This publication is the third in a series of annual reports giving a comparative analysis of business regulations and their enforcement across 155 countries and over time. Comparable data indicators are given for 10 topics: starting a business, dealing with licences, hiring and firing workers, registering property, getting credit, investment protection, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts, and closing a business. These indicators are used to assess socio-economic outcomes including levels of unemployment and poverty, productivity, investment and corruption; and to identify which regulatory measures enhance business activity and those that work to constrain it. This is a co-publication of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.

O trabalho consumiu dois anos e chegou ao limite. Foram consultados impressos, com prioridade para jornais e revistas oferecidos pela Biblioteca Nacional, além de sites e livros expostos na internet, e os teipes parciais ou completos de mais de três centenas de partidas. A coleção de livros do autor também teve grande importância. Houve ainda frequentes consultas, por e-mail e telefone, no Brasil e no exterior, aos que poderiam fornecer indicações e esclarecimentos. Há ainda um texto de apoio para cada década e a relação completa de todos os jogadores que vestiram a camisa rubro-negra pelo menos uma vez, com a identificação de praticamente todos eles, para que não reste alguma desconfiança sobre as suas existências. De agora em diante ninguém terá mais dúvida sobre o futebol do Flamengo.

This book presents a comprehensive overview and analysis of mangrove ecological processes, structure, and function at the local, biogeographic, and global scales and how these properties interact to provide key ecosystem services to society. The analysis is based on an international collaborative effort that focuses on regions and countries holding the largest mangrove resources and encompasses the major biogeographic and socio-economic settings of mangrove distribution. Given the economic and ecological importance of mangrove wetlands at the global scale, the chapters aim to integrate ecological and socio-economic perspectives on mangrove function and management using a system-level hierarchical analysis framework. The book explores the nexus between mangrove ecology and the capacity for ecosystem services, with an emphasis on thresholds, multiple stressors, and local conditions that determine this capacity. The interdisciplinary approach and illustrative study cases included in the book will provide valuable resources in data, information, and knowledge about the current status of one of the most productive coastal ecosystem in the world.
