Era globalisasi memiliki dampak yang sangat besar terhadap kehidupan manusia yang dapat berujung pada meningkatnya persaingan antar negara di dunia. Dalam menghadapi persaingan tersebut maka diperlukan pengelolaan sumber daya manusia yang lebih komprehensif agar menjadikan warga negara Indonesia berkualitas dan berdaya saing unggul dengan negara lain. Hal tersebut dapat tercipta melalui pendidikan yang berkualitas dan tugas tersebut merupakan tanggung jawab dari lembaga pendidikan, salah satunya adalah perguruan tinggi yang ada di Indonesia. Saat ini Indonesia sedang menghadapi masalah serius dalam dunia pendidikan, yaitu seputar kualitas pendidikan, kesiapan tenaga pengajar, fasilitas dan lapangan kerja. Perguruan tinggi saat ini harus lebih fokus pada penyediaan pendidikan untuk menyediakan lulusan berkualitas tinggi. Manajemen perguruan tinggi dalam proses belajar mengajar harus memusatkan perhatian pada fungsi-fungsi yang mentransformasikan upaya tenaga pengajar (dosen) dan mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran.
