A country boy, he started boxing when he was 10 - winning the national youth medal at the age of 16. Radiation Research
Radiation Research: Biomedical, Chemical and Physical Perspectives documents the proceedings of the Fifth International Congress of Radiation Research held in Seattle, Washington, 14-20 July 1974. While the focus of the Congress was on fundamental research, there were several well-attended sessions on the practical aspects of radiation research as it relates to radiotherapy, central station power generation by both nuclear fission and fusion, and the environment. The 21st International Symposium of the Princess Takamatsu Cancer Resarch Fund covered advances in chemical carcinogenesis and cancer chemotherapy. It notes that humans are continuously exposed to carcinogens, so the amount of carcinogenic xenobiotics and the human response to them is important.

Inequality Beyond Globalization
This volume debates the complex nature of the relationships between globalization, social and economic transformations and growing inequalities.
