Transfer of Siegel Cusp Forms of Degree 2

Let be the automorphic representation of generated by a full level cuspidal Siegel eigenform that is not a Saito-Kurokawa lift, and be an arbitrary cuspidal, automorphic representation of . Using Furusawa's integral representation for combined with a pullback formula involving the unitary group , the authors prove that the -functions are "nice". The converse theorem of Cogdell and Piatetski-Shapiro then implies that such representations have a functorial lifting to a cuspidal representation of . Combined with the exterior-square lifting of Kim, this also leads to a functorial lifting of to a cuspidal representation of . As an application, the authors obtain analytic properties of various -functions related to full level Siegel cusp forms. They also obtain special value results for and

The Development of Sociology in the Soviet Union

The Development of Sociology in the Soviet Union

The Development of Sociology in the Soviet Union (1974) examines the institutionalisation of sociology in the Soviet Union. Of primary concern are the obstacles to and mechanisms for the acceptance of sociological inquiry. The study shows how sociology was advanced as a legitimate discipline in the Soviet Union in the post-Stalin years. The social characteristics of Soviet sociologists, the institutional framework within which they work, and the theoretical assumptions underlying their research are analysed. In a survey of areas of research of concern to Soviet sociologists, including time budget research, labour sociology and social stratification, emphasis is placed on the purported relation between these areas and wider aspects of Soviet society. Public opinion research, an area of particular significance in Soviet sociology, is examined in depth.

Hyperbolic Problems: Theory, Numerics, Applications

The International Conference on "Hyperbolic Problems: Theory, Numerics and Applications'' was held in CalTech on March 25-30, 2002. The conference was the ninth meeting in the bi-annual international series which became one of the highest quality and most successful conference series in Applied mathematics. This volume contains more than 90 contributions presented in this conference, including plenary presentations by A. Bressan, P. Degond, R. LeVeque, T.-P. Liu, B. Perthame, C.-W. Shu, B. Sjögreen and S. Ukai. Reflecting the objective of series, the contributions in this volume keep the traditional blend of theory, numerics and applications. The Hyp2002 meeting placed a particular emphasize on fundamental theory and numerical analysis, on multi-scale analysis, modeling and simulations, and on geophysical applications and free boundary problems arising from materials science and multi-component fluid dynamics. The volume should appeal to researchers, students and practitioners with general interest in time-dependent problems governed by hyperbolic equations.

The six-volume set LNCS 10404-10409 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications, ICCSA 2017, held in Trieste, Italy, in July 2017. The 313 full papers and 12 short papers included in the 6-volume proceedings set were carefully reviewed and selected from 1052 submissions. Apart from the general tracks, ICCSA 2017 included 43 international workshops in various areas of computational sciences, ranging from computational science technologies to specific areas of computational sciences, such as computer graphics and virtual reality. Furthermore, this year ICCSA 2017 hosted the XIV International Workshop On Quantum Reactive Scattering. The program also featured 3 keynote speeches and 4 tutorials.

The volume presents all chemical and physical data on mononuclear organorhenium compounds with C5H5Re(CO)2 or 3 and (C5H5)2Re fragments and, in the main part, gives all information on the large variety of mononuclear organorhenium compounds with substituted cyclopentadienyl ligands. Moreover, all compounds are described that have (5-coordinated six-membered or larger organic rings as well as ligands bonded through six carbon atoms (6L ligands such as benzene, substituted benzenes, and condensed aromatic ring systems). Volumes 1 to 4 of this series give a comprehensive overview of mononuclear organorhenium compounds.
