Het eiland Curaçao bood Aart G. Broek twintig jaar geborgenheid. In 2001 kwam hij terug naar Nederland. Het nam enkele jaren om weer enigszins vertrouwd te raken met de samenleving waarin hij was geboren en opgegroeid. In de overgang van de ene naar de andere samenleving kwamen hartstocht, liefde en vriendschap onder dwarse druk te staan.
