The Iraqi Kurds' decision of independence is clearly contrary to the declaration of the Iraqi State that was accepted by the UN and to international law. The federal law, which the Kurds regarded as the right earned, is determined by the military coups and is anti-democratic. Temporary Constitutions which were prepared at the end of the Military Cherubs and occupations conquered the democratic rights of nations outside the Arabs and Kurds. Claiming federation or independence through armed insurrection and occupation means the disintegration and destruction of Iraq. In such a case, a new Iraqi State will be formed and all nations and especially Turkomans living in Iraq can demand a federation.
I have been watching the Middle East region closely since about 1988. In 2006, I published a printed book called “Strategic Maps Atlas” on War and Strategic Maps. I drew Ethnic Maps of countries such as Near Middle East countries, Iran, Afghanistan among 16 Strategic Maps, which were also published as big posters. With the Arab Spring process, the Middle East has become a major conflict area. In these years, Web-based Interactive Map studies, which were based on Google API applications, started to become widespread. In Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen and Afghanistan, neighborhoods and cities were constantly changing hands between warring groups and maps were changing. So I started publishing a web-based Middle East Map. According to the political and military developments in the countries, I was constantly updating this map. I was saving important developments in PNG, JPG format and posting them on my website as Picture. These map printouts have become a beautiful archive over time. I decided that this archive would be useful for Researchers and Scientists and published them in a book. I hope that the Middle East War Maps series will contribute to your work.
The Daesh Terrorist Organization is a studio project, although its origins are based on Al-Qaeda militants who fill out prisons post-Saddam. His name, philosophy, attire, goals and areas where they settled were carefully selected. The Organization, based on the idea of Islam and Caliphate, aimed mainly Sunni and Shiite Muslim groups. All the actions of the organization served the interests of the Western and Eastern alliances. The Assad administration, which will be demolished, has regained legitimacy and power. The Russian-led Shiite alliance had the opportunity to spread to the region. The pro-US Arab countries have cut their support to the Sunni opponents. In accordance with the interests of the United States, Britain and Israel, the Near East geography has become a Sunni-Shiite conflict area.
I published some maps regarding the historical development of the most important wars in the Middle East (Syria, Iraq, Libya). After Russia started to invade Ukraine at the beginning of 2022, I decided to prepare a book on this subject. Since the beginning of the Ukrainian War, I have prepared maps sometimes daily and sometimes every other day in parallel with the developing conflicts. In 2022, Ukraine managed to regain some of its invaded territory by Russia. The first 6 months of 2022 were Ukraine's most successful period. The war stabilized in the second 6 months of the year, and there was no serious progress between the warring parties in 2023.
The Qur’an between the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Republic is one of the few book-length studies on an Ottoman Qur’an commentary. Its premise is that "the Ottoman Empire" did not come to an end until 1950 so far as Islam was concerned in Turkey. The work explores the relationship between Elmalılı’s Qur’an commentary and the intellectual trends of the period, including the impact of materialism, the sciences, notions of civilizational progress, and philosophy. In doing so, this study emphasizes the "local" aspect of the Qur’an commentary, through a sustained focus on the Istanbul context in which it was written. This work demonstrates that Elmalılı’s Qur’an commentary is...
The global rise of political religion is one of the defining and most puzzling characteristics of current world politics. Since the early 1990s, religious parties have achieved stunning electoral victories around the world. Beyond Sacred and Secular investigates religious politics and its implications for contemporary democracy through a comparison of political parties in Israel and Turkey. While the politics of Judaism and Islam are typically seen as outgrowths of oppositionally different beliefs, Sultan Tepe's comparative inquiry shows how limiting this understanding of religious politics can be. Her cross-country and cross-religion analysis develops a unique approach to identify religious...
