Search for a New Land

A Muslim feudal family in provincial Bihar Shareef faces devastating grief and anguish during the Partition of India in 1947 and then again, the partition of Bengal in 1971 when lines are drawn across their lands and hearts. Originally published in Urdu as Do Gaz Zameen, Abdus Samad's deeply emotional and political novel traces the journey of the Hussain family from the 1920s to 1970s, as they travel through the Bihar province, to Calcutta, Karachi, and Dhaka and take us along intensely critical political events that shaped the formation of new lands and new identities in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Abdus Samad received the Sahitya Akademi award in 1990 for Do Gaz Zameen. His prolific literary career in Urdu fiction has garnered for him several other accolades and awards such as the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad, the Ghalib award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Urdu Academy in Bihar. Search for a New Land is the first translation into English of this epic novel.

Athar as-Sunan: Traditions of the Sunnah

In this classic work Allamah an-Nimawi relates fiqh rulings, particularly those of the Hanafi madhhab, to their source Hadiths, reviewing what the leading scholars have said about their chains of transmission. Footnotes indicate the views of other Hadith specialists on the authors assessment of each Prophetic Tradition. Although an-Nimawi was only able to complete the sections on ritual purity and prayer, the subject matter includes questions of special concern today, including practices that have recently become a source of controversy. For this reason, and because of its status as an authoritative reference work, Athar as-Sunan should be studied by anyone with a serious interest in Hanafi fiqh.

The Purest Monotheism

THE PUREST MONOTHEISM Islamic monotheism is free from every trace of anthropomorphism and polytheism. This feature sets Islam apart from the rest of the major religions. The unique concept of Islamic monotheism also solves philosophical puzzles like freewill-destination paradox and the Watchmaker analogy. THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE Sufi literature, accumulated over centuries, proves that loving Allah is the most satisfying spiritual experience. The book describes how to unconditionally love Allah and how to unconditionally love yourself. JUSTICE The Quran strongly condemns zulm (oppression) and uses the word zulm a whopping 291 times to discourage it. On what grounds then, can any Muslim support...
