Protected Areas, National Parks and Sustainable Future

This book aims to examine the context and practice of national parks regarding a countries obligations to safeguard biodiversity through the protection and management of forest-protected areas. The book examines the wider impacts of national parks within the scope of an integrated environmental hub at the global and regional level and eventually delves into the country case. Chinese Business in Malaysia

Chinese capital in Malaysia appears to have reasonable prospects for further growth in the immediate future. A review of the literature on Chinese business in Malaysia would indicate that although all studies acknowledge the dominant role of Chinese capital in the economy, there is a dearth of in-depth empirical research on its mode of development and styles of operation. This study, which covers the period from colonial times to the present day, fills that gap by identifying key issues pertaining to Chinese business operations in Malaysia: ownership and control patterns; style of growth; relations with the state, politicians, and other Chinese businessmen; and the manner of development of business abroad, at the same time debunking the theory that large-scale Chinese capital is not very entrepreneurial in nature.

Inorganic-Organic Composites for Water and Wastewater Treatment

This second volume on ''Inorganic-Organic Composites for Water and Wastewater Treatment'' reviews research findings on advanced materials and methods for purification. Considering the fact that new emerging pollutants are released into the environment and water bodies, it is necessary to develop more advanced techniques in order to treat them. The utilization of metal – organic framework in view of applications, synthesis, properties like adsorption, characterization of the electronic and geometric aspects, and hybrid systems is reiewed in this book, and the advantages/disadvantages, shortcomings including future prospects associated with metal-based nanoparticles and nanocomposites for water decontamination are discussed. In addition, the use of carbon quantum dots, supramolecular ion-exchange resins, multifunctional composite aerogels, algal biomass valorization and titania-containing composites in treatment processes are also presented.
