Oncolytic Virotherapy

Oncolytic Virotherapy

Using viruses to treat cancer is an established concept, and many viruses have shown promising anti-tumor efficacies. Oncolytic viruses are safe and well-characterized pathogens with a stable genome. The outstanding clinical results for oncolytic virotherapy deserve serious attention and consideration to make it a treatment option alongside classical cancer therapeutics. Virotherapy uses replication-competent oncolytic viruses to replicate and destroy cancer cells selectively. The transformed nature of cancer cells offers a permissive environment for some viruses’ replication and to complement viral mutations. The in situ amplification and spread within the tumor mass is the key benefit of such replication-competent viruses. Oncolytic virotherapy is divided into two main groups, according to tumor specificity: naturally oncolytic viruses to replicate in human cancer cells; and gene-modified viruses engineered to accomplish selective oncolysis.

Animal Nutrition

The book titled "Animal Nutrition" by Prof. Dr. Ali Mehmood Alkassar, Prof. Dr. Amer Jebur Alisawi, Assi. Prof. Hayder Razzaq Abed, and Assis. Prof. Ahmed Kassem Kalaf, is a comprehensive educational resource aimed at helping students understand the fundamental concepts of animal nutrition. The book is designed as a study guide for less-experienced students in veterinary medicine and agriculture, focusing on key topics such as nutrient analysis, digestive processes, and the metabolism of various nutrients. The authors emphasize practical learning by providing essential information without overwhelming details, making it accessible to students with limited backgrounds in animal nutrition. The book's structure includes summaries and review questions at the end of each chapter, facilitating effective learning. It is intended to serve as a useful resource for both students and faculty in the digital age, covering the basic principles of food animal nutrition across 13 chapters.

Land use and water resources are two major environmental issues which necessitate conservation, management, and maintenance practices through the use of various engineering techniques. Water scientists and environmental engineers must address the various aspects of flood control, soil conservation, rainfall-runoff processes, and groundwater hydrology. Watershed Management and Applications of AI provides the necessary principles of hydrology to provide practical strategies useful for the planning, design, and management of watersheds. The book also synthesizes novel new approaches, such as hydrological applications of machine learning using neural networks to predict runoff and using artifici...
