It aims to highlight recent advances in the field, whilst emphasizing important directions and new possibilities for future inquiries. The Methods in Cancer Imaging and Image-directed Interventions collection aims to highlight the latest experimental techniques and methods used to investigate fundamental questions in Cancer Imaging and Image-directed Interventions. Review Articles or Opinion Articles on methodologies or applications including the advantages and limitations of each are welcome. This Research Topic includes technologies and up-to-date methods which help aim to help advance science.

At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. Therefore, Frontiers in Immunology is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women scientists, across all fields of Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy.
Almost 30 years have gone by since the postulation that GISTs derive from mesenchymal stem elements, and only 15 years have gone by since the definitive detection of origin of GISTs. Research in the last decade was more focused upon the justification of imatinib mezylate therapy in GISTs and clarification why a secondary resistance that occurred during the kinase inhibitors therapy. The era of therapy for GISTs, targeting the primary activating mutations in the KIT proto-oncogene; is being proclaimed as bringing the message of special importance to the pathologist role in multidisciplinary team that are responsible for treating patients with locally advanced or metastatic GIST. This is the first conclusive message forthcoming from this book. On the other hand, the book provides summarised and case-based knowledge on current management of gastrointestinal and extragastrointestinal stromal tumours. We hope that this book may be considered as a worthwhile timely addition to clinical science dissemination, medical education, further basic and clinical research.
Gastric cancer (GC) represents a serious health problem on a global scale. Despite some recent advances in the field, the prognosis in GC remains poor. A better understanding of molecular biology, which would lead to improved treatment options, is needed. Many potential biomarkers of prognostic significance have been identified. However, inhibition of only HER2 protein has led to a modest survival benefit. A deeper understanding of the pathogenesis and biological features of gastric cancer, including the identification and characterization of diagnostic, prognostic, predictive, and therapeutic biomarkers, hopefully will provide improved clinical outcomes. ntegrative Pharmacology can be used to determine the multi-pharmacological effects of traditional medicines such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Kampo, Sa-sang, Ayurveda, etc.). Through qualitative and quantitative pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) correlations among multi-constituents and multi-targets, integrating chemical profiling, ADME/PK processes, molecular network calculation and resulting experimental validation, the use of Integrative Pharmacology has become widespread. The data has provided a novel paradigm to evaluate the druggability of bioactive ingredients of herbs or formulae, to decipher the pharmacological mechanisms of drug action and to screen potentially new indications for approved drugs and previously unidentified adverse events. On this basis, Integrative Pharmacology may offer an effective way to test the potential scientific basis for traditional medicines and to assess what roles of traditional medicine can and cannot play in pharmaceuticals.
