This book proposes a concrete path to bring an end to pandemics and achieve a world without infectious diseases, suggesting an escape from the long history of infectious diseases that have brought misery and confusion to humanity. The book presents an Mikawa-Kase-AQIP model to illuminate the generation of infection units originating from the lungs, where viral proliferation occurs. It further elucidates the theoretical distribution of viruses entrapped within aerosol particles. It is entirely possible to avoid infection using today’s science and technology, if we all understand, share, and implement an air ventilation approach which will stop viruses from entering the body. The challenge to eradicate future pandemics must be confronted now. The aim in this book is to present the answer.
In Paul and Pseudepigraphy, an international group of scholars engage open questions in the study of the Apostle Paul and those documents often deemed pseudepigraphal. This volume addresses many traditional questions, including those of method and the authenticity of several canonical Pauline letters, but they also reflect a desire to think in new ways about persistent questions surrounding pseudepigraphy. The focus on pseudepigraphy in relationship to Paul affords a unique opportunity to address this innovative inclination, not readily available in studies of New Testament pseudepigraphy in general. Regarding these concerns, new approaches are introduced, traditional evidence is reassessed, and some new suggestions are offered. In addition to Pauline letters, treatments of related non-canonical Pauline pseudepigraphs are included in discussion.
Every day, large quantities of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted into the atmosphere from both anthropogenic and natural sources. The formation of gaseous and particulate secondary products caused by oxidation of VOCs is one of the largest unknowns in the quantitative prediction of the earth’s climate on a regional and global scale, and on the understanding of local air quality. The NATO ARW in Irkutsk was an excellent occasion for the coming together of Eastern and Western scientists who are involved in tropospheric science; the workshop has greatly contributed to the scientific and social understanding among the participants from the many different countries. Many new personal contacts were made which will help to strengthen future collaborations. In particular, the Lake Baikal area and the Limnological Institute offer splendid opportunities for environmental research which, in part, is already on going.
