Este volume pretende celebrar a jubilação de Alberto Amaral, figura marcante da vida da Universidade do Porto e do ensino superior português ao longo das últimas décadas, compilando, em português, uma seleção de alguns dos principais textos que Alberto Amaral escreveu ao longo dos últimos 15 anos sobre diversos aspetos que têm marcado o debate académico e político sobre o ensino superior. Alberto Amaral foi reitor da Universidade do Porto ao longo de três mandatos (1985-1998), e interessou-se pela reflexão acerca do ensino superior e suas transformações políticas, interesse que culminou a criação do Centro de Investigação de Políticas do Ensino Superior (CIPES), centro de referência na produção de conhecimento acerca das políticas do ensino superior. Atualmente é responsável pela Agência Nacional de Acreditação e Avaliação do Ensino Superior. Este livro é testemunho e reconhecimento desse intenso e proveitoso labor, ao reunir em português uma seleção de alguns dos principais textos que Alberto Amaral escreveu ao longo dos últimos 15 anos sobre diversos aspetos que têm marcado o debate académico e político sobre o ensino superior.
The high level Douro seminars are now a well-established tradition in the annual activities promoted by Hedda, a European consortium of nine centres and ins- tutes devoted to research on higher education, and CIPES, its Portuguese associated centre. The Technical Consultation made major recommendations on how to strengthen international cooperation on managing fishing capacity and combating IUU fishing. It also asked FAO to undertake a series of actions to facilitate effective and full implementation of these two IPOAs. Noting in particular and ongoing build-up of capacity in tuna fisheries in the western and central Pacific Ocean, the Technical Consultation suggested that governments in the region should lend priority attention to addressing the situation, including halting introductions of additional large-scale fishing vessels.
