La exclusión y garantías al ciudadano habitante de calle en Bogotá desde una visión normativa y social
La habitanza de calle es un estilo de vida nómada urbana, una cultura donde se vive de forma diferente la autonomía personal, contraria a la lógica sedentaria que lleva un esquema de vida asentada, tensión que genera una serie de conflictos porque no se comprende ni se acepta la diferencia: discriminación, exclusión y la aplicación de medidas sancionatorias en contra del ciudadano habitante de calle, que con base en prejuicios son considerados residuos humanos, "sujetos peligrosos", que deben ser eliminados o segregados, haciendo uso de la teoría del control social para obtener su rehabilitación, impidiendo la garantía de los derechos y libertades de esta población. El objetivo de esta investigación es determinar la mirada que las instituciones distritales tienen de los ciudadanos habitantes de calle a partir del estudio de las normas más relevantes sobre la materia y las políticas públicas en la ciudad de Bogotá.

Gary Soto
In a 1995 interview, prolific Chicano writer Gary Soto noted, "Wonderment has always been a part of my life." This book surveys Soto's immense range of poems, stories, novels, essays and plays for audiences of prereaders to adults. Soto's world moves from the cotton and beet fields of the San Joaquin Valley to the blue-collar barrios of Fresno, and to urban and suburban settings in Oakland and Berkeley. Chapters analyze a wide variety of Soto titles, from his breakout works like 1977's The Elements of San Joaquin to the Chato the Cat illustrated books for children. With self-deprecating humor, particularly in his poems, Soto combines his wonderment with the trials and conflicts that beset him throughout life. In such novels as Jesse, Buried Onions and The Afterlife, and in his stories for YA readers, including Baseball in April and Petty Crimes, his broad array of characters confront the anxieties and annoyances of adolescence. Although he continues to motivate young Chicanos to read and write, Soto stakes his greatest claims to literary prominence through his poems, which are accessible to readers of all ages.
Gender and Gentrification
This book explores how gentrification often reinforces traditional gender roles and spatial constructions during the process of reshaping the labour, housing, commercial and policy landscapes of the city. It focuses in particular on the impact of gentrification on women and racialized men, exploring how gentrification increases the cost of living, serves to narrow housing choices, make social reproduction more expensive, and limits the scope of the democratic process. This has resulted in the displacement of many of the phenomena once considered to be the emancipatory hallmarks of gentrification, such as gayborhoods. The book explores the role of gentrification in the larger social processes through which gender is continually reconstituted. In so doing, it makes clear that the negative effects of gentrification are far more wide-ranging than popularly understood, and makes recommendations for renewed activism and policy that places gender at its core. This is valuable reading for students, researchers, and activists interested in social and economic geography, city planning, gender studies, urban studies, sociology, and cultural studies.
