Książka doskonale wpisuje się w nurt badań, które łączą dogmatyczną analizę prawa z metodami pochodzącymi z innych nauk, w szczególności z zakresu ekonomicznej analizy prawa. Redaktorzy zebrali w jednym tomie trzynaście publikacji o dość różnorodnej tematyce, które jednak łączy myśl przewodnia, tj. ocena regulacji prawnych w kontekście społecznym i gospodarczym. Ta różnorodność potwierdza interdyscyplinarny charakter książki, a także oddaje naturę oceny skutków regulacji. W dzisiejszym świecie prawnik nie może być zamknięty w wieży z kości słoniowej. Rozumie to doskonale prawodawca, którego skutki wprowadzanych regulacji dotykają zwłaszcza w momencie poddania się ocenie wyborców. Coraz bardziej brakuje jednak w nauce prawa, lecz także w procesie ustawodawczym poważnego traktowania procedury oceny skutków proponowanych regulacji. Ta książka dowodzi, że powinno być inaczej.
