Mit einer sozialkonstruktivistischen Perspektive geht die vorliegende Studie einerseits der Frage nach, vor welchem kulturellen Hintergrund Gewalt in der Erziehung in Japan und Österreich bzw. im deutschsprachigen Raum konstruiert ist. Andererseits werden über Expert/innen-Interviews Erkenntnisse gewonnen über das jeweilige Gewaltverständnis, die Anwendung von Gewalt an Kindern und Jugendlichen in der Erziehung durch Eltern sowie über Faktoren, die das Verständnis und die Wahrnehmung von Gewalt an Kindern und Jugendlichen beeinflussen. Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse der Studie liefern Einsichten über die zum Teil unterschiedliche Konstruktion von Gewalt in Japan und Österreich sowie methodologische Anregungen für eine kultursensible Gewaltforschung.
