This volume grew out of a conference in honor of Boris Korenblum on the occasion of his 80th birthday, held in Barcelona, Spain, November 20-22, 2003. The book is of interest to researchers and graduate students working in the theory of spaces of analytic function, and, in particular, in the theory of Bergman spaces.
This book collects the abstracts of the mini-courses and lectures given during the Intensive Research Program “Spaces of Analytic Functions: Approximation, Interpolation, Sampling” which was held at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (Barcelona) in October–December, 2019. The topics covered in this volume are approximation, interpolation and sampling problems in spaces of analytic functions, their applications to spectral theory, Gabor analysis and random analytic functions. In many places in the book, we see how a problem related to one of the topics is tackled with techniques and ideas coming from another. The book will be of interest for specialists in Complex Analysis, Function and Operator theory, Approximation theory, and their applications, but also for young people starting their research in these areas.
The papers in this volume are based on the talks given at the conference on quantum groups dedicated to the memory of Joseph Donin, which was held at the Technion Institute, Haifa, Israel in July 2004. A survey of Donin's distinguished mathematical career is included. Several articles, which were directly influenced by the research of Donin and his colleagues, deal with invariant quantization, dynamical $R$-matrices, Poisson homogeneous spaces, and reflection equation algebras. The topics of other articles include Hecke symmetries, orbifolds, set-theoretic solutions to the pentagon equations, representations of quantum current algebras, unipotent crystals, the Springer resolution, the Fourier transform on Hopf algebras, and, as a change of pace, the combinatorics of smoothly knotted surfaces. The articles all contain important new contributions to their respective areas and will be of great interest to graduate students and research mathematicians interested in Hopf algebras, quantum groups, and applications. This volume contains the research and expository articles for the courses and talks given at the UIMP-RSME Lluis A. Santalo Summer School, Recent Trends in Partial Differential Equations. The goal of the Summer School was to present some of the many advances that are currently taking place in the interaction between nonlinear partial differential equations and their applications to other scientific disciplines. Oriented to young post-docs and advanced doctoral students, the courses dealt with topics of current interest. Some of the tools presented are quite powerful and sophisticated. These new methods are presented in an expository manner or applied to a particular example to demonstrate the main ideas of the method and to serve as a handy introduction to further study. Young researchers in partial differential equations and colleagues from neighboring fields will find these notes a good addition to their libraries. This book includes papers presented at the Young Researchers Symposium of the 14th International Congress on Mathematical Physics, held in July 2003, in Lisbon, Portugal. The goal of thes book is to illustrate various promising areas of mathematical physics in a way accessible to researchers at the beginning of their career. Two of the three laureates of the Henri Poincare Prizes, Huzihiro Araki and Elliott Lieb, also contributed to this volume. The book provides a good survey of some active areas of research in modern mathematical physics.

This collection of reprinted 'Featured Reviews' published in Mathematical Reviews (MR) in 1995 and 1996 makes widely available informed reviews of some of the best mathematics published recently. 'Featured Reviews' were introduced in MR at the beginning of 1995 in part to provide some guidance to the current research-level literature. With the exponential growth of publications in mathematical research in the first half-century of MR, it had become essentially impossible for users of MR to identify the most important new research-level books and papers, especially in fields outside of the users' own expertise. This work identifies some of the "best" new publications, papers, and books that are expected to have a significant impact on the area of pure or applied mathematics with which researchers are concerned. All of the papers reviewed here contain interesting new ideas or applications, a deep synthesis of existing ideas, or any combination of these. The volume is intended to lead the user to important new research across all fields covered by MR.
Starting in the early 1950's, Alberto Calderon, Antoni Zygmund, and their students developed a program in harmonic analysis with far-reaching consequences. The title of these proceedings reflects this broad reach. This book came out of a DePaul University conference honoring Stephen Vagi upon his retirement in 2002. Vagi was a student of Calderon in the 1960's, when Calderon and Zygmund were at their peak. Two authors, Kenig and Gatto, were students of Calderon; one, Muckenhoupt, was a student of Zygmund. Two others studied under Zygmund's student Elias Stein. The remaining authors all have close connections with the Calderon-Zygmund school of analysis. This book should interest specialists ...
