Anhand Einar Schleefs Beschäftigung mit der antiken Tragödie und deren Transformationen in der Moderne analysiert Christina Schmidt die Figur des Chors und seine konflikthafte »Rückkehr« in das Theater. Sie zeigt, dass sich Schleef mit dem Theater der Tragödie weniger philologisch als vielmehr topografisch auseinandersetzt, indem er die Orte der Figuren, der verhandelten Konflikte, der theatralen Verlautbarungen und deren damit zusammenhängende Macht-Konstellationen untersucht. Schmidt geht dieser politisch-topologischen Auffassung des Bühnenraums nach und rückt somit die Thematik der »Tragödie als Bühnenform« ins Zentrum.
