Das Singen und das Volkslied sind eine noch lebendige Tradition in der Türkei. Dafür aber liegt bis heute keine selbständige Untersuchung über die Aspekte des türkischen Volksliedes vor. Auf der Grundlage der authentischen Texterfassung werden hier zunächst die sprachlichen Aspekte (Textaufbau, Formeln, Metaphorik, Themen, Gattungen, besonders Volksballaden, inhaltliche Strophen- und Textstrukturen) mit vielen Textbeispielen dargestellt. Dann werden die einzelnen liedästhetischen Fragen des türkischen Volksliedes anhand eines Balladentextes eingehend interpretiert.
