Orientierungsversuche in Giacomo Leopardis Canti
Das Nichts stellt eine Konstante in Leopardis Werk dar, deren Darstellung bei Weitem nicht auf die bloße Nennung des ,nulla' beschränkt ist. Es erweist sich als polyvalente Denkfigur, die unter anderem auf Mangel, Abwesenheit, Wertlosigkeit, Zersetzung und Vergehen verweist. Durch eine genaue Betrachtung der unterschiedlichen Nichts-Konzeptionen wird eine gleitende Semantik sichtbar, die im ganzen Werk dynamisch bleibt. Diese entsteht durch die wiederholte Parallelisierung von gegensätzlichen Begrifflichkeiten wie ,Vernunft und Natur', ,Antike und Moderne', ,Dichtung und Philosophie', ,Materie und Geist', ,Leben und Tod', ,Inneres und Äußeres', etc. Dies ist aber nicht die einzige Funktion, die das Nichts in Leopardis Gedankenbewegungen einnimmt: Das Nichts entpuppt sich vielerorts als Orientierungspunkt.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Italianistik, Note: 1,7, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (Romanisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Der autobiographische Roman, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Hausarbeit ist ein Abriss über das Augenmotiv in der europäischen Literatur mit besonderem Fokus auf die Augenmotivik Tozzis in Con gli occhi chiusi. Auf theoretischer Basis werden zunächst Begrifflichkeiten wie 'Auge' und 'Motiv' in der Literatur geklärt. Es folgt ein theoretischer Teil über die Funktionalität des Augenmotivs in der europäischen Literatur, um dann zur metaphorischen und autobiographischen Bedeutsamkeit des Augenmotivs in Tozzis Con gli chiusi hinzuführen. Besonders prägnante Textstellen des Romans werden zu diesem Zweck hervorgehoben und gedeutet. Im Kapitel Fazit und Ausblick wird die Bedeutsamkeit der Augenmotivik bei Tozzi zusammenfassend bewertet und ein Ausblick auf die Augenmotivik in Tozzis Romane Il podere und I ricordi di un impiegato gegeben.

The History of Futurism
Futurism began as an artistic and social movement in early twentieth-century Italy. Until now, much of the scholarship available in English has focused only on a single individual or art form. This volume seeks to present a more complete picture of the movement by exploring the history of the movement, the events leading up to the movement, and the lasting impact it has had as well as the individuals involved in it. The History of Futurism: The Precursors, Protagonists, and Legacies addresses the history and legacy of what is generally seen as the founding avante-garde movement of the twentieth century. Geert Buelens, Harald Hendrix, and Monica Jansen have brought together scholarship from an international team of specialists to explore the Futurism movement as a multidisciplinary movement mixing aesthetics, politics, and science with a particular focus on the literature of the movement.
The Translingual Imagination
It is difficult to write well even in one language. Yet a rich body of translingual literature -- by authors who write in more than one language or in a language other than their primary one -- exists. The Translingual Imagination is a pioneering study of the phenomenon, which is as ancient as the use of Arabic, Latin, Mandarin, Persian, and Sanskrit as linguae francae. Colonialism, war, mobility, and the aesthetics of alienation have combined to create a modern translingual canon. Opening with an overview of this vast subject, Steven G. Kellman then looks at the differences between ambilinguals -- those who write authoritatively in more than one language -- and monolingual translinguals -- those who write in only one language but not their native one. Kellman offers compelling analyses of the translingual situations of African and Jewish authors and of achievements by authors as varied as Mary Antin, Samuel Beckett, Louis Begley, J. M. Coetzee, Joseph Conrad, Eva Hoffman, Vladimir Nabokov, and John Sayles. While separate studies of individual translingual authors have long been available, this is the first in-depth study of the general phenomenon of translingual literature.
