Não à toa, este livro surge como fruto do evento literário Palavras: Lentes da Cidade, realizado em São Paulo, em maio de 2023. Foram cinco dias de debates e ações artístico-culturais com grandes autores, dramaturgos e realizadores culturais brasileiros e estrangeiros, com a intenção de provocar debates acerca da Literatura e a sua relação com a Cidade. A partir do evento manifesta-se o desejo de provocar uma outra qualidade de sexto encontro por intermédio do livro – agora na convergência entre leitor e produção textual. A Resistência negra ao projeto de exclusão racial
Com organização de Helio Santos, doutor em administração pela FEA-USP e histórico militante da causa antirracista, A Resistência Negra ao Projeto de Exclusão Racial – Brasil 200 anos (1822-2022) reúne 33 trabalhos de 34 personalidades de diversos segmentos acadêmicos, escritores/as, poetas e ativistas afro-brasileiros/as que analisam a história do país a partir da ação antirracista como eixo central e com uma visão crítica acerca das principais questões que dominam a pauta atual: meio ambiente, reforma tributária, políticas afirmativas e de reparação, segurança pública, política e economia. A obra não apenas analisa as contradições e o legado deixado por um passado de exclusão sistêmica, mas também apresenta soluções. A publicação foi viabilizada em parceria com o Instituto Çarê, o selo Sueli Carneiro e a Editora Jandaíra.

Em março de 2003, foi aprovada a Lei Federal no10.639/03, que torna obrigatório o ensino de história e cultura africana e afro-brasileira nas escolas de ensino fundamental e médio. The School of Salamanca: A Case of Global Knowledge Production
Over the past few decades, a growing number of studies have highlighted the importance of the ‘School of Salamanca’ for the emergence of colonial normative regimes and the formation of a language of normativity on a global scale. According to this influential account, American and Asian actors usually appear as passive recipients of normative knowledge produced in Europe. This book proposes a different perspective and shows, through a knowledge historical approach and several case studies, that the School of Salamanca has to be considered both an epistemic community and a community of practice that cannot be fixed to any individual place. Instead, the School of Salamanca encompassed a variety of different sites and actors throughout the world and thus represents a case of global knowledge production. Epistemologies of the South
This book explores the concept of 'cognitive injustice': the failure to recognise the different ways of knowing by which people across the globe run their lives and provide meaning to their existence. Boaventura de Sousa Santos shows why global social justice is not possible without global cognitive justice. Santos argues that Western domination has profoundly marginalised knowledge and wisdom that had been in existence in the global South. She contends that today it is imperative to recover and valorize the epistemological diversity of the world. Epistemologies of the South outlines a new kind of bottom-up cosmopolitanism, in which conviviality, solidarity and life triumph against the logic of market-ridden greed and individualism.

In 1638, a small book of no more than 92 pages in octavo was published “appresso Gioanne Calleoni” under the title “Discourse on the State of the Jews and in particular those dwelling in the illustrious city of Venice.” It was dedicated to the Doge of Venice and his counsellors, who are labelled “lovers of Truth.” The author of the book was a certain Simone (Simḥa) Luzzatto, a native of Venice, where he lived and died, serving as rabbi for over fifty years during the course of the seventeenth century. Lagoa Santa Karst: Brazil's Iconic Karst Region
This book discusses the Lagoa Santa Karst, which has been internationally known since the pioneering studies of the Danish naturalist Peter Lund in the early 1800s. It covers the speleogenesis, geology, vegetation, fauna, hydrogeology, geomorphology, and anthropogenic use of the Lagoa Santa Karst and is the first English-language book on this major karst area. The area, which has been at the heart of the debate on the origin and age of human colonization in the Americas, is characterized by a classical and scenic karst landscape with limestone cliffs, karst lakes and karst plains, in addition to numerous solution dolines. More than 1,000 caves have been documented in the area, many with significant archeological and paleontological value. Despite its great importance, the Lagoa Santa Karst faces severe environmental threats due to limestone mining and the expansion of the metropolis of Belo Horizonte and its surrounding towns. The growing recognition of the area’s remarkable significance has led to increasing concern, and a number of protected areas have now been established, improving the conservation status of this landmark karst area.
