"This book introduces machine learning for readers with some background in basic linear algebra, statistics, probability, and programming. In a coherent statistical framework it covers a selection of supervised machine learning methods, from the most fundamental (k-NN, decision trees, linear and logistic regression) to more advanced methods (deep neural networks, support vector machines, Gaussian processes, random forests and boosting), plus commonly-used unsupervised methods (generative modeling, k-means, PCA, autoencoders and generative adversarial networks). Careful explanations and pseudo-code are presented for all methods. The authors maintain a focus on the fundamentals by drawing connections between methods and discussing general concepts such as loss functions, maximum likelihood, the bias-variance decomposition, ensemble averaging, kernels and the Bayesian approach along with generally useful tools such as regularization, cross validation, evaluation metrics and optimization methods. The final chapters offer practical advice for solving real-world supervised machine learning problems and on ethical aspects of modern machine learning"--

The Metal Heart book contains exclusive computer-generated hardcore visuals, numerous experimental artworks by Anders F. Ronnblom and Andreas Lindholm, as well as contributions from renowned digital artists. The Metal Heart project started in 1998 when Swedish designers Anders F. Ronnblom and Andrea Lindholm release the emBox/Brainreactor prototype DVD with fonts and 3D typefaces for people to experiment with. The book is a compilation of digital images and design samples of this project. All the images are identified with title, the name of the artist, description and the software which was used to make it. The accompanying DVD includes postscript fonts, 3D typeface images with alpha-channels and paths, samples from Metal Heart background royalty-free collections, 100 MB high-res images, animations, video clips and graphic libraries. The Metal Heart project has been regularly promoted in Ronnblom's worldwide publication EFX Art & Design magazine, as well as on several websites, resulting in high expectations and a large amount of pre-orders.
Using stereoscopic images and other novel pedagogical features, this book offers a comprehensive introduction to quantitative finance.
Based on papers presented at the Fifth Triennial Conference of the International Association of Word and Image Studies (IAWIS/AERTI) held in 2002 in Hamburg, the twenty-two essays in this volume cover a wide array of intermedial relations and a great variety of media, from medieval architecture to interactive digital art. They have been arranged in sections labeled "History and Identity," "Cultural Memory," "Texts and Photographs: Cultural Anthropology and Cultural Memory," "Mixed-Media Texts: Cartography in Contemporary Art and Fiction," "Mixed-Media Texts: 'Yellow-Cover Books', Artists' Books, and Comics," "Intermedia Texts: Logotypes," and "Space, Spatialization, Virtual Space." Displaying a range of methods and interests, these contributions by scholars from Europe, the United States, and South America working in different disciplines confirm the impression voiced by IAWIS president Charlotte Schoell-Glass in her introduction that "the influence of Visual and Cultural Studies has changed the outlook of many who study the interactions of texts and images".

The Lloyd's Register of Shipping records the details of merchant vessels over 100 gross tonnes, which are self-propelled and sea-going, regardless of classification. Before the time, only those vessels classed by Lloyd's Register were listed. Vessels are listed alphabetically by their current name.
The growing popularity of advanced multimedia-rich applications along with the increasing affordability of high-end smart mobile devices has led to a massive growth in mobile data traffic that puts significant pressure on the underlying network technology. However, no single network technology will be equipped to deal with this explosion of mobile data traffic. While wireless technologies had a spectacular evolution over the past years, the present trend is to adopt a global heterogeneous network of shared standards that enables the provisioning of quality of service and quality of experience to the end-user. To this end, enabling technologies like machine learning, Internet of Things and di...
