Karstology in the Classical Karst
This book presents the latest advances in karstology by researchers at the ZRC SAZU Karst Research Institute, Slovenia – home of Classical Karst. It features interdisciplinary investigations carried out on the karst surface, subsurface, caves, and associated waters. It covers various topics, such as analysis of karst processes, including the mineralogical and lithological characteristics of sediments and carbonate rocks; structural geological mapping; detecting the old traces of paleokarst; the formation of karst surfaces in a variety of types of rock and conditions; and the evolution of karst, which can aid in dating sediments, and in tracing aquifers using artificial and natural tracers. In addition, the book provides detailed information on the use and development of various research methods, ranging from comprehensive field research, long-term measurements, and laboratory analyses to computer and laboratory modeling. Integrating karst geology, geomorphology, hydrology, ecology, speleobiology, and microbiology research, these methods provide readers with a far deeper understanding of karst terrains.

Prva monografija moderne dobe o »klasičnem« slovenskem krasu, o pokrajini kras. Knjigo je napisala skupina slovenskih strokovnjakov, ki se vsak v okviru svoje stroke ukvarjajo s Krasom. Besedilo v angleškem jeziku je pisano strokovno, vendar tudi dovolj poljudno, tako da je razumljivo vsakomur. V knjigi so poudarjene naravoslovne značilnosti, predvsem tiste, ki so za kras bistvenega pomena – kamen in voda – (to je geološke, hidrološke, morfološke in speleološke značilnosti) in povezanost človeka s krasom (etnologija, tradicionalna arhitektura). Delo je ilustrirano z več kot 200 ilustracijami, kartami, preglednicami, grafikoni in skicami.

The International Union of Speleology (Union Internationale de Spéléologie, UIS) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1965 in Slovenia (part of former Yugoslavia) on the initiative of the 4th International Congress of Speleology. Knjiga povzema rezultate znanstvenega sodelovanja med Inštitutom za raziskovanje krasa ZRC SAZU, Yunnanskim geografskim inštitutom in Geološkim inštitutom Kitajske akademije znanosti. Raziskave so potekale na območju v bližini Liupanshuija v zahodnem delu province Guizhou, na kraških planotah med Guizhouom in Yunnanom ter v Lunanskem kamnitem gozdu in kopastem krasu Xichoua v Yunnanu. Predstavljene so splošne značilnosti območja, litološka in strukturna zgradba ter geomorfološke, speleološke in hidrogeološke značilnosti, pa tudi različni tipi izrabe tal in njihovi vplivi na okolje.
Slovenia in Focus
Knjiga, ki je bila izdana ob predsedovanju Slovenije Evropski uniji, vsebuje strnjene in nazorno (s preglednicami, statističnimi podatki, dodelanimi tematskimi zemljevidi ter številnimi barvnimi grafikoni in fotografijami) prikazane relevantne podatke o naši državi, od temeljnih kulturno-zgodovinskih podatkov do bistvenih informacijo naravnem okolju in družbenem razvoju. The Geography of Slovenia
This book is the first to give a comprehensive and detailed overview of the complete geography of Slovenia in English. Only very few countries, even considerably larger ones, can boast the landscape diversity found in Slovenia since the Alps, the Pannonian Basin, the Dinaric Alps, and the Mediterranean meet and interweave in this small corner of Central Europe, as do Germanic, Hungarian, Slavic, and Romance cultural influences. The book provides a systematical overview of physical and human geographical elements of Slovenia from landforms to cultural characteristics. Recent Landform Evolution
The Carpatho-Balkan Geomorphological Commission and the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) Carpatho-Balkan-Dinaric Regional Working Group, promote networking between researchers and the exchange of research experience. A Century of Italian War Narratives

Škocjanske jame 1920-1940
Škocjanske jame imajo bogato zgodovino. V tej knjigi je obravnavan le sorazmerno kratek čas med obema svetovnima vojnama, ko je Avstrija območje predala Italiji. Večji del Škocjanskih jam je bil raziskan pred letom 1914, zato je bil glavni cilj jamo razviti v turistično znamenitost. Jame so obiskovali že prej, a v 20. in 30. letih so si prizadevali urediti turistične poti skoz jame, z novimi mostovi in stezami, a tudi novim predorom do površja. Da bi vse to uskladili z italijanskimi zakoni, je povzročalo težave, zato so z odprtjem odlašali do leta 1923. Ob tem so jame še dodatno raziskali, premerili in o njih objavili sveže znanstvene razprave. Poročali so tudi o malo poznani usodni nesreči. Skozi celotno obdobje so posamezni vodniki, raziskovalci in upravniki napisali zelo človeško in razburljivo zgodbo. Kar knjigo dela še posebej pomembno, je izjemen prispevek italijanskih arhivov in zgodovinarjev.
