Abraham Kuyper (1837 - 1920) is a significant figure in the history of the Netherlands and one of the most remarkable figures in the annals of Calvinism. Gerardus van der Leeuw (1890-1950) war als reformierter Theologe massgeblich an der liturgischen Erneuerungsbewegung in der Niederländisch-Reformierten Kirche beteiligt. Seine zahlreichen Publikationen tragen viel zur Erforschung liturgischer Themen sowie zur Anregung von Reformen im liturgischen Leben seiner Kirche bei. Seine "Liturgiek" (1946) liegt nun erstmals in deutscher Übersetzung vor. Neben dem annotierten Text enthält der Band eine historisch-theologische Einführung sowie Aufsätze namhafter Forscherinnen und Forscher im Bereich der Liturgik und Liturgiewissenschaft, die aus unterschiedlichen konfessionellen Standpunkten zu den Aussagen Van der Leeuws Stellung nehmen.
