Descendants of John Veazey of "Cherry Grove", Cecil County, Maryland
John Veazey, born about 1647 in Essex, England, married Martha Broccus about 1670 at Cecil County, Maryland. "He is the progenitor of all the Veazeys from Cherry Grove on Veazey's Neck on the northern end of the Delmarva Peninsular." Descendants migrated to North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and other places.

Collections and Recollections of the Newman Shirey Family
Descendants of Newman Shirey (1814-1901) born in South Carolina, possibly the son of Elizabeth Shirey born in South Carolina and who lived as a widow in Washington Co., Ga. in 1827. He married 1849 in Butts Co., Ga., Susan Elvira Lewis (1828-1911), daughter of Thomas and Mary Duke Lewis. They were parents of eleven children who were all born in Georgia. In 1885 family moved to Alder Springs, Alabama and then on to more permament homes in the Albertville, MacVille and Concord areas of Alabama.
