Ethics and Phenomenology is a collection of essays that explore the relationship between moral philosophy and the phenomenological tradition. Phenomenology is a vast and rich philosophical tradition which seeks to explain how we perceive the world. This, in turn, involves questions about one's relationship to the world and how one both acts and should act in the world. For this reason phenomenology entails an ethics, even if such an ethics is not always apparent in the work of phenomenological thinkers . The book is devoted to two central tasks: Section One offers essays exploring the resources available to moral philosophy in the work of the major phenomenologists of the 20th-century, including Husserl, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Sartre, and others. Part Two consists of essays demonstrating the way that the phenomenological method can facilitate advances in our thinking through the exploration of contemporary ethical issues, including environmentalism, intellectual property, parenting and others.

Die Wissensfigur des lebenden Körpers konstituiert eine diskursive Formation, die den Menschen als Natur- und Kulturwesen betrifft und in einen neuen epistemologischen Bezugsrahmen stellt. In der latenten Anthropologie der Biologie und der Bio-Kybernetik, in der Philosophischen Anthropologie als auch in der literarischen Anthropologie der Moderne erscheint der Mensch als ein plastisches Wesen, das der Formung und der Stabilisierung bedarf. Über die Wissensfigur des lebenden Körpers wird nicht nur die Notwendigkeit einer solchen Formung biologisch begründet, sondern das Wissen vom lebenden Körper bringt formale Modelle hervor, die den Menschen als ein Wesen, das in Form zu bringen ist, beschreiben. Die Arbeit untersucht, wie die Figur des lebenden Körpers Theorien der Steuerung, Regulation und Kontrolle bereitstellt, die an-wendbar sind auf Maschinen, Tiere und Menschen. Für die literarische Moderne wird am Beispiel von Rainer M. Rilke, Alfred Döblin und Ernst Jünger herausgearbeitet, wie die Texte dieser Autoren in die wissenschaftlichen Diskurse zu verorten sind und wor-in die spezifisch literarischen Thematisierungen des lebenden Körpers bestehen.

Jahrhunderts wird deutlich, dass es in Frankreich und in Deutschland voneinander abweichende Sichtweisen auf die Frage gibt, ob der Mensch eine "Sonderstellung" in der Dynamik des biologischen und geschichtlichen Lebens genießt.
