Charters of the New Minster, Winchester
These 34 documents from the pre-Conquest archive of the New Minster reflect aspects of ecclesiastical and royal life in the 10th and 11th centuries. The Minster was perhaps founded to serve the spiritual needs of the royal household and the archive comprises a number of royal documents including the wills of King Alfred and King Eadred. Other charters include grants, diplomas, refoundation charters, bequests and other wills. Miller includes a brief introductory history of the Minster and its archives.

This 1930 volume contains the original texts of the great majority of surviving Anglo-Saxon wills drawn up in the tenth and eleventh centuries. They are of special interest for the light they cast on the connections of those who made the wills, and the ways in which the testators managed the disposition of their possessions.

The Charters of the Early West Saxon Kingdom
This study of West Saxon charters includes all those that may be dated before 839, the end of the reign of Ecgberht. The charters are discussed in groups according to the monastic archive from which they come; the author seeks to establish which are authentic in whole or in part, thus identifying a body of valid evidence for the history of the West Saxon kingdom.
