Annotations in Scholarly Editions and Research
The term ‘annotation’ is associated in the Humanities and Technical Sciences with different concepts that vary in coverage, application and direction but which also have instructive parallels. This publication mirrors the increasing cooperation that has been taking place between the two disciplines within the scope of the digitalization of the Humanities. It presents the results of an international conference on the concept of annotation that took place at the University of Wuppertal in February 2019. This publication reflects on different practices and associated concepts of annotation in an interdisciplinary perspective, puts them in relation to each other and attempts to systematize their commonalities and divergences. Suhrkamp und DDR
Die Studie rekonstruiert erstmals die wechselvolle Beziehungsgeschichte des Suhrkamp Verlags zu Autor:innen und zur Literatur der DDR. Auf der Basis unveröffentlichter Archivalien liefert sie neue Erkenntnisse über Personen, Praktiken sowie Produktionsprozesse und erschließt damit einen Teil der noch weitgehend ungeschriebenen Literaturgeschichte des geteilten Deutschlands. Die Literaturwissenschaftlerin Anke Jaspers erprobt dabei die Möglichkeiten einer praxeologisch ausgerichteten Literaturgeschichte, bei der Verlage als zentrale Akteure konzeptionell mit einbezogen werden. Empirisch fundiert führt sie vor, inwiefern sich die ‚Ausgabe‘ als Kategorie zwischen Text und Werk in die Theorie des literarischen Werks integrieren lässt. Am hier entwickelten Genre der ‚Ausgabeninterpretation‘ und unter Berücksichtigung der Rolle von Verlagen in der Literaturproduktion zeigt Jaspers zudem, wie sich intentionalistische Gedankenfiguren der Hermeneutik differenzierter darstellen lassen. Mit dem Blick auf die Mitarbeit von Autor:innen an der Produktion ihrer Bücher wird zudem eine Materialästhetik literarischer Autorschaft entfaltet.

Marxist Historical Cultures and Social Movements during the Cold War
This book explores the relationship between diverse social movements and Marxist historical cultures during the second half of the twentieth century in Western Europe, with special emphasis on the Federal Republic of Germany and Italy. During the Cold War, Marxist ideas and understandings of history informed not only the traditional Communist Parties in Western Europe, but also influenced a range of new social movements that emerged in the 1970s in the wake of the 1968 student rebellions. The generation of 1968 was strongly influenced by neo-Marxist ideas that they subsequently carried into the new social movements. The volume asks how Marxist historical cultures influenced third world movements, anti-fascist movements, the peace movement and a whole host of other new social movements that signaled a new vibrancy of civil society in Western Europe from the 1970s onwards.

Das Archiv hat Konjunktur. War es früher lediglich ein Magazin, ein Aufbewahrungsort für Dokumente, eine Sammlung literarischer Hinterlassenschaften, so hat sich seine Funktion in den letzten Jahrzehnten radikal gewandelt. Wurden früher Schätze aus der Vergangenheit konserviert, öffnet sich das Archiv der Gegenwart: Beschränkte man sich auf den Erwerb von Nachlässen, werden heutzutage bereits Konvolute von jüngeren Autor*innen aufgenommen, womit dem Archiv eine Definitionsmacht bei der Kanonbildung zufällt. Nachlassbewusstsein ist bei Schriftsteller*innen ausgeprägter als in früheren Zeiten. Das Archiv bestimmt die literarische Produktion, sofern sich der Text selbst nicht gleich als Archiv versteht. Das Archiv entwickelt selbst kulturelle Praktiken, wird dank der Digitalisierung von Beständen zum virtuellen Ort der Wissensproduktion, durch die Ausstellung des Originals und seiner Aura andererseits zum Museum. Neben der Erweiterung traditioneller Archivarbeit um transnationale Forschungsfelder, Autorenbibliotheken und Verlagsarchive steht im Mittelpunkt des Bandes die Frage nach den Aufgaben eines Archivs im digitalen 21. Jahrhundert.
