Catedràtic de metafísica a la Facultat de Filosofia de la Universitat de Barcelona, Jaume Bofill i Bofill va ser fidel a la tradició que recull les aportacions d’Aristòtil, sant Agustí i sant Tomàs d’Aquino per a la comprensió del món, de l’home i de Déu, tres dels grans problemes que ha de mirar d’explicar tota metafísica a la recerca d’una cosmovisió del tot existent. El magisteri de Bofill, però, no es limita a l’aprofundiment d’aquesta tradició ni a la filosofia en general, sinó que abraça altres disciplines com ara la pedagogia, la literatura i la política.
