This volume of Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing contains accepted papers presented at SOCO 2011 held in the beautiful and historic city of Salamanca, Spain, April 2011. This volume presents the papers accepted for the 2011 edition, both for the main event and the Special Sessions. SOCO 2011 Special Sessions are a very useful tool in order to complement the regular program with new or emerging topics of particular interest to the participating community. Four special sessions were organized related to relevant topics as: Optimization and Control in Industry, Speech Processing and Soft Computing, Systems, Man & Cybernetics and Soft Computing for Medical Applications.
Are you ready to build a game? GameMaker Studio is a professional development engine used to build games like Hyper Light Drifter, Death's Gambit, Risk of Rain, Valdis Story, Hotline Miami, and many more. These great games show the power of this tool but the very best part of GameMaker Studio is that it's one of the best places for new indie game developers to begin their journey. It is where I started and I have loved every second of it. Helping you on this journey is my goal with this book. With this book you will learn about GameMaker Language Lexical Structure, Data Types and Values, Variables, Arrays and Data Structures, Expressions and Operators, Statements, Scripts, Objects, Events, Game Audio, Development Patterns and Tricks, Surfaces and Particles, HUD and GUI Layer, Box2D Physics, Online Multiplayer, and Artificial Intelligence. Thank you for your support!

Nanomaterials from Renewable Resources for Emerging Applications details developments in nanomaterials produced from renewable materials and their usage in food and packaging, energy conservation, and environmental applications. • Introduces fundamentals of nanomaterials from renewable resources, including processing and characterization. • Covers nanomaterials for applications in food and packaging, including nanocellulose, lignin- and chitosan-based nanomaterials, and nanostarch. • Discusses applications in energy conservation, such as supercapacitors, electrolyte membranes, energy storage devices, and insulation. • Describes environmental uses such as water remediation and purification and oil spill clean-ups. • Highlights advantages and challenges in commercialization of green nanoparticle-based materials. Equally beneficial to researchers and professionals, this book is aimed at readers across materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, and related fields interested in sustainable engineering.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex disease with a presumed autoimmune aetiology and few current effective treatments. Disease modifying therapies focus on the altering the natural course of relapsing and remitting MS, targeting the inflammatory response. Other targets involve tacking the cause of the disease – demyelination of axons through remyelination therapies. Due to several recent breakthroughs in the understanding of the pathophysiology of MS new targets for remyelination and immunomodulation are rapidly emerging. This book provides a comprehensive overview of drug discovery and development for the molecular basis of the disease, from new targets to drugs currently in clinical development, cellular and animal disease models to biomarkers for diagnosis and assessment in clinical trials. Emerging Drugs and Targets for Multiple Sclerosis is an ideal reference for any student or researcher interested in drug development for neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune diseases and MS in particular.
