My parents never prepared me for life without them. I haven’t been taught all the things I need to know to survive alone. When Sara Johnson’s parents are killed in a car accident her oppressive world is suddenly shattered wide open. She’s now faced with choice - something she’s never had before. For seventeen years, she’s felt like a character in her own story, controlled by her parents without the ability to make her own decisions about her life, her clothes, her friends, her future. She is sent to live at Karamea House where she is exposed to a way of life she didn’t even know existed. A life filled with exploration, encouragement, and acceptance. She begins to forge relationships with people who see things differently and it unlocks something inside of her. Torn between the strict religious group she grew up in and her new eclectic foster home, Sara embarks on a divided journey of self-discovery in a new world of sexuality, banishment, love, lies, and violence. Karamea House is a modern coming-of-age story that exposes the challenging moments people can face at any stage in life on their journey to becoming their ‘true’ self.
First hand accounts of the men who took part in the heroic and tragic Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava on the 25th October 1854. Previously unpublished biographies of the men and photographs bring their stories to life. What became of our heroes? Some died penniless while others found fame and fortune. Set within an unrelenting and cruel military campaign, where many would perish, unravelling the myths to find many of the missing Chargers was a massive undertaking.

These were my main motivations in writing this book, Holocaust Memories, which includes reviews of memoirs, histories, biographies, novels and films about the Holocaust. It was difficult to choose among the multitude of books on the subject that deserve our attention. I made...
