Im Frühjahr 2007 fand in Dortmund der Bundeskongress der Kunstpädagogik statt. Vertreterinnen und Vertreter des Faches aus der Schulpraxis, Forschung und Lehrerausbildung diskutierten aktuelle Inhalte der Kunst- und Bildvermittlung. Der nun vorliegende Tagungsband fasst ausgewählte Beiträge des Kongresses zusammen und geht zugleich über sie hinaus, indem innovative und zum Teil kontroverse Positionen der Kunstpädagogik vorgestellt werden. Das Buch ist eine anschauliche Einführung in den aktuellen Stand ihrer Debatte und Inhalte.
Doppelgangers, Alter Egos and Mirror Images in Western Art, 1840-2010
The notion of a person--or even an object--having a "double" has been explored in the visual arts for ages, and in myriad ways: portraying the body and its soul, a woman gazing at her reflection in a pool, or a man overwhelmed by his own shadow. In this edited collection focusing on nineteenth- and twentieth-century western art, scholars analyze doppelgangers, alter egos, mirror images, double portraits and other pairings, human and otherwise, appearing in a large variety of artistic media. Artists whose works are discussed at length include Richard Dadd, Salvador Dali, Egon Schiele, Frida Kahlo, the creators of Superman, and Nicola Costantino, among many others.

The Journal of Cultural Management and Cultural Policy offers international perspectives on a wide range of issues in cultural management and cultural policy research and practice. The social situatedness of art and the interplay between artists, non-artists, institutions, and policy makers have changed in the past decades. Democracies are at risk and the geopolitical world order has changed. The global climate emergency and the rise of autocratic governments are just two forces posing new contexts and threatening possibilities for socially engaged art. At the same time, artists and curators are suspected of belonging to a new professional managerial class that entangles them in a neoliberal economic system. Can socially engaged art catalyze progressive civic consciousness? Can art address big questions of social justice? This issue provides some answers to these questions.

The challenges of a complex and volatile world require solutions that reconcile divergent perspectives and interests. In schools, interdisciplinarity has been integrated within curricula for decades, yet it is rarely applied as a collaborative practice. Communication between different fields of research is not enough. Without meaningful collaboration, opportunities to connect are lost, and teachers and students fail to benefit from the experience of lived interdisciplinarity. A new periodical, entitled EDU:TRANSVERSAL, presents the latest findings of national and international transversal research as well as the state of the art of interdisciplinarity in didactics. The aim of this annual publication is to stimulate a transversal turn in education.

Fashion and Materiality
Fashion is intimately tied to the material world. With a focus on diverse cultural practices, this book offers new insights into the dynamic relationships between fashion, bodies, and material culture. In a series of original case studies, both historical and contemporary, the collection explores how fashion and clothing affect articulations of body and self, experiences of time and place, and the shaping of social and local/global relationships. With chapters from leading international scholars, Fashion and Materiality takes the reader from the study of clothing and biography, and an early modern “foreign dress” collection, to Chinoiserie clothing in 18th-century Europe and fast fashion production in today's China. The book also examines fashion's role in nation building, and entanglements between fashion and migration across clothing donations for Syrian refugees in Germany and the circulation of “refugee chic” on international fashion runways. Scrutinizing the dense connections between fashion, clothing, materiality, and humanity, the book shows how the material interacts forcefully with the personal and political.

Seit Beginn der Coronavirus-Krise 2020 wurden zahllose Bilder der Pandemie medial erschaffen und verbreitet, trotz und wegen der Tatsache, dass der Erreger für das bloße Auge nicht zu erkennen ist. Erst die Darstellungen von SARS-CoV-2 in seiner Morphologie und Wirkung, die Diagramme und Karten zu seiner globalen Verbreitung und die Bilder der Effekte, die die Infektionskrankheit auf Individuum und Gesellschaft haben, geben der unsichtbaren Gefahr ein Gesicht. Der vorliegende Band widmet sich den Visualisierungen der Pandemie in einem interdisziplinären Zugriff.
Ist Kunst ein Sonderfall?
Qualitative Forschungsansätze stellen vor allem in den künstlerisch-pädagogischen Fächern von Musik und Tanz, den bildnerischen Künsten und den darstellenden Künsten einen wesentlichen Bereich der methodischen Herangehensweisen zur Erkenntnisgewinnung dar. Doch ist Kunst mit ihren vielfältigen Prozessen in diesem Zusammenhang ein Sonderfall im Forschungsfeld? Dieses Buch widmet sich den besonderen Möglichkeiten künstlerisch-pädagogischer Forschungsansätze, wobei innovative, kreativ-kombinierte oder adaptierte Methoden qualitativer Forschung in Diskurs treten. Forschungsprojekte an den Schnittstellen der einzelnen Disziplinen sollen eine Antwort auf die Frage des Tagungstitels "Ist Kunst ein Sonderfall?" ermöglichen.
