The Low Countries are generally considered to be the land of painting. Consequently, sculpture, especially that of the 16th century, has been insufficiently explored. In Moving Sculptures Aleksandra Lipińska presents a little-known chapter of the history of Netherlandish sculpture: the serial production of small-scale alabaster reliefs, altarpieces and statuettes in the workshops of Mechelen and Antwerp between c. 1525 and 1650. She gives the reader an insight into the rules of this craft, the specificity of the material, and the marketing methods employed. But the innovative element of this study lies in the fact that Lipińska analyses the phenomenon from the perspective of its distant recipients in Central and Northern Europe on the basis of works largely unknown to the broader public. The present collection, divided into three thematic sections, includes twenty-one studies on the history of the University of Prague from its foundation in 1348 to the 16th century. The first section is devoted to the birth of the university, its first institutions, the growth of the earliest colleges and the victory of the Reformist party. The second part concentrates on the curriculum, examinations, graduations and annual disputations of the Faculty of Liberal Arts. Section three deals with university polemics about universalia realia, mainly in relation to the scholarly and literary activity of Jerome of Prague (+ 1416).

Monografie přináší komplexní „biografii“ jednoho z nejzajímavějších a největších sochařsko-architektonických děl vztyčených v Čechách v souvislosti s morovou epidemií v letech 1713–1715. Monument postavený v prostoru, který v dané době fungoval jako cour d’honneur Pražského hradu, je výjimečný svým ideovým programem i svou výtvarnou kvalitou. Ta se zrcadlí jak v netradiční koncepci architektonického rozvrhu sloupu, tak v kompozičním a modelačním řešení jeho sochařské výzdoby, jejímž autorem je Ferdinand Maxmilián Brokoff. Odborná monografie nabízí detailní pohled na proměnu obrazu tohoto barokního monumentu v odborné literatuře a také zevrubný přehled předchůdců hradčanského monumentu v Praze. Autoři mapují historii vzniku sloupu a analyzují jeho architekturu i sochařskou výzdobu a sledují osudy díla v době od jeho slavnostního vysvěcení v roce 1736 až do současnosti a soustředí se na proměny sloupu.
