OPERA MINORA SELECTA
This book, conceived as a tribute to Prof. Antonio Ramírez de Verger on the occasion of his retirement, contains a brief outline of his academic career, a complete list of his publications and a wide selection of his articles, reviews and book chapters published over four decades. These writings examine a variety of authors, such as Fronto, Corippus, Maximianus, Tibullus, Horace, Virgil, Tacitus, Catullus, Propertius, Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, Ovid and Martial, and they also include contributions on various philological topics. El libro, concebido como homenaje al Prof. Ramírez de Verger con motivo de su jubilación, contiene una breve semblanza de la trayectoria académica del Profesor, una relación completa de sus publicaciones y una amplia selección de sus artículos, reseñas y capítulos de libro publicados durante cuatro décadas sobre autores tan variados como Frontón, Coripo, Maximiano, Tibulo, Horacio, Virgilio, Tácito, Catulo, Propercio, Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, Ovidio y Marcial, así como otros de "Filología varia".

Book VI of Ovid’s ›Metamorphoses‹
The verse-by-verse commentary on the Ovidian text includes the reading of more than 300 manuscripts, including the so-called Heinsian manuscripts, and of almost 100 editions, from the two "editiones principes" of 1471 to the present day. The introduction describes the manuscripts used, and a history of the Ovidian editions is also traced. A new text of book VI is presented, accompanied by a slim and lucid critical apparatus. Futher information appears in the commentary and in the appendices, particularly readings of manuscripts and editions. The verbatim commentary offers, with reliable quotes for each term, the critical observations of all the editors and commentators of the Ovidian work throughout the centuries. This aspect of critical edition has been neglected by commentators of Ovid since Heinsius (1659) and Burman (1727). Two appendices ("Readings of manuscripts" and "Readings of editions") are added for the first time for readers of the Ovidian work. The volume closes with a "Select index of textual problems", a large "Index locorum" and an "Index nominum".

Bajo el título genérico de AMORES se engloba una colección de cincuenta poemas que OVIDIO (43 a.C.-17 d.C.) compuso en verso elegíaco y que, mezclando el humor y el tono intimista, le situaron enseguida como uno de los principales poetas del género. Obra que, como sus «Metamorfosis» (BT 8202), habría de alcanzar extraordinaria popularidad y pervivencia a lo largo de los siglos, algunos de sus principales motivos (el triunfo del amor, el amor como milicia, la figura de la alcahueta, la promesa de no volver a enamorarse, entre otros) llegaron a transformarse en topos de la literatura amorosa occidental. La presente edición, traducida, presentada y comentada por Antonio Ramírez de Verger, se ve completada por una serie de interesantes apéndices, así como por un índice selecto de motivos amatorios y otro de nombres propios. Otras obras de Ovidio en el Libro de Bolsillo: «El arte de amar. Remedios de amor» (BT 8230) y «Heroidas» (LB 1686).

Ovid in the Age of Cervantes
The Roman poet Ovid, author of the famous Metamorphoses, is widely considered one of the canonical poets of Latin antiquity. Vastly popular in Europe during the Renaissance and Early Modern periods, Ovid's writings influenced the literature, art, and culture in Spain's Golden Age. The book begins with examinations of the translation and utilization of Ovid's texts from the Middle Ages to the Age of Cervantes. The work includes a section devoted to the influence of Ovid on Cervantes, arguing that Don Quixote is a deeply Ovidian text, drawing upon many classical myths and themes. The contributors then turn to specific myths in Ovid as they were absorbed and transformed by different writers, including that of Echo and Narcissus in Garcilaso de la Vega and Hermaphroditus in Covarrubias and Moya.
