This book constitutes revised selected papers from the workshops held at 25th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing, Euro-Par 2019, which took place in Göttingen, Germany, in August 2019. The 53 full papers and 10 poster papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions. Euro-Par is an annual, international conference in Europe, covering all aspects of parallel and distributed processing. These range from theory to practice, from small to the largest parallel and distributed systems and infrastructures, from fundamental computational problems to full-edged applications, from architecture, compiler, language and interface design and implementation to tools, support infrastructures, and application performance aspects. Warwick at War 1939–45
When the Second World War broke out, Warwick already had public air raid shelters planned, gas masks were being distributed, and there was even a power struggle when Warwickshire County Council took control of the Air Raid Wardens from the police. Although Warwick was not a prime target for the Luftwaffe, nearby Coventry was and minor blackout regulations were rigorously enforced. St Mary`s Church was believed to have been used as a marker for the Luftwaffe, and when Coventry was attacked in November 1940, the flames could be seen from Warwick. Blockchain: Capabilities, Economic Viability, and the Socio-Technical Environment
Blockchain is widely considered a new key technology. The Foundation for Technology Assessment (TA-SWISS) has proposed a comprehensive assessment of blockchain technologies. With this publication, TA-SWISS provides the much-needed social contextualisation of blockchain. The first, more technical part of the study takes an in-depth look at how blockchain functions and examines the economic potential of this technology. By analysing multiple real-world applications, the study sheds light on where the blockchain has advantages over traditional applications and where existing technologies continue to be the better solution. The second part of the study examines how blockchain became mainstream. It explores the origins of blockchain in the early history of information technology and computer networks. The study also reveals the impact blockchain has on industrial and public spaces. Finally, it discusses the social implications and challenges of blockchain against the background of a new socio-technical environment.

L’estudi permet resseguir el grau de catalanitat lingüística del corpus enfront del llast de solucions de procedència exògena, bàsicament sarda i italiana. Una invitació a descobrir les arrels culturals comunes a través dels noms de fruita a l’Alguer, des d’una perspectiva romànica i mediterrània.
