Sir Budiyana, we dedicate this book to you. It mostly contains your ideas and inspiration to your students which hopefully be the lasting memory of our coolest friend and our source of inspiration who has a high taste of humor and has better knowledge and understanding. You have been a constant source of support and encouragement during the moments of challenges and predicament of our faculty. We are truly thankful for having you in our school. You have been the source of our strength throughout the journey of our faculty and it is you who have encouraged us all the way through and whose encouragement has made us sure that we will give it all it takes to finish that which you have started as it is you whose good examples have taught us to work hard for the things that you aspire to achieve. Despite the fact that language assessment has become one of the most crucial aspects of language teaching, there have been many challenges faced by teachers and language test designers. New challenges include online language classroom assessment and language assessment for class teachers who use English as the medium of instruction (EMI). The time of covid-19 pandemic will not stop the increased need for language assessment. Therefore, issues in language testing and assessment are worth to be well documented through academic articles.
Covid-19 has changed our educational landscape. It has created distances, yet at the same time it has also created borderless classrooms. Any student can now jump from one classroom to another classroom – not only from their own department but also to faculties and even to universities from all over the worlds in seconds. An Indonesian student can take courses not only from his/her university but also take courses from Pilipino, Malaysian or U.S.A. University during the course of their studies. This is possible due to the Indonesian’s Kampus Merdeka program, which has promoted that education is now free to take, anyway we like, insofar as the requirements of taking the desired class are met. Students want to learn how to become creative and innovative beings. How can the School of Arts and Language Studies, such as the English study program can become competitive individuals? This book contains insights and results of research done by students, lecturers, teachers, and practitioners, who writes on the theme: “Arts and Entrepreneurship in Language Studies”.
Most discourse research follows either of the three major paradigms (positivistic, constructivistic, and critical) in the four domains of analysis which encompass rules and principles, contexts and cultures, and functions and structures, as well as power and politics. Discourse domains reflect which area the investigation is primarily concerned with or focused on. Yet still the analysis of discourse is not confined by and limited to the above framework. At risk of sounding repetitive, it must once more be stressed that a discourse analysis concerns practically with any form of texts; be it written, spoken or visual, etc. A written and oral discourse, both viewed as a language and social reality can be portrayed, investigated, and analyzed by deploying various research approaches. These approaches include (despite being not limited to): (1) Content Analysis, (2) Grounded Theory, (3) Ethnography of communication, (4) Genre Analysis, (5) Ethnomethodological Conversation Analysis (CA), (6) Semiotic, (7) Pragmatics, (8) Critical discourse analysis (CDA), (9) Functional Pragmatic Method, (10) Hermeneutics, (11) Mediated, and (12) Multimodal approaches.

This volume presents innovative research on the interface between pragmatics and translation. Taking a broad understanding of translation, papers are presented in four different parts. Part I focuses on interpreting; Part II centers on the translation of fictional and non-fictional texts and spaces; Part III discusses audiovisual translation; and Part IV explores translation in a wider context that includes transforming senses and action into language. The issues that transpire as worth exploring in these areas are mediality and multi-modality, interpersonal pragmatics, close and approximate renditions, interpretese and translationese, participation structures and the negotiation of discourses and power.
