Anoek Steketee: State of Being
The Rijksmuseum has organized the exhibition 'Document Nederland' annually since 1975. A Dutch photographer is asked to focus on a current social topic. In 2017 Anoek Steketee was commissioned to portray the theme 'stateless'. Steketee went looking for stateless people in the Netherlands: people without nationalities, without passports, who legally do not exist but live in the Netherlands nevertheless.0As a stateless person, you are never at home and you do not legally exist. In a world of rules and bureaucracy, like the Netherlands, it is not your physical presence that determines your identity but your passport. Without a passport, without a nationality, you are invisible.0To create this book, Steketee portrayed people that were de facto or recognized as stateless, as well as scenes, places and documents. She worked together with journalists Eefje Blankevoort and Arnold van Bruggen and designers Kummer & Herrman. Rob Hornstra and Arnold van Bruggen have been working together since 2007 to tell the story of Sochi, Russia, site of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. They returned repeatedly to this region as committed practitioners of "slow journalism," establishing a solid foundation of research on and engagement with this small yet incredibly complicated place before it found itself in the glare of international media attention. There are many more like this naval town in Europe: cities or regions that are excessively dependent on the attention of the national government. The Jungle Book
When the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana set out on his search for cinnamon in 1541, he could not have anticipated that his travels would bring him to the bends of the world s longest river: the Amazon. Long a witness to evangelization campaigns, infrastructure development, and natural resource extraction, the river continues to arouse greed, competition, and fascination in its visitors. Following in the footsteps of past expeditions, The Jungle Book is a visual travel diary comprising discreetly staged scenes that reveal the diverse worlds of contemporary Amazonia and its surrounding areas. Photographer Yann Gross worked with different local communities in order to explore their lives in a time of ecological disintegration. Once immersed in their domestic world, the viewer soon forgets romantic cliches of forgotten lands and noble savages, and begins to question the guiding ideals of progress and development that inform escapist fantasies of the global south."

ECLAP 2012 Conference on Information Technologies for Performing Arts, Media Access and Entertainment
It has been a long history of Information Technology innovations within the Cultural Heritage areas. The Performing arts has also been enforced with a number of new innovations which unveil a range of synergies and possibilities. Most of the technologies and innovations produced for digital libraries, media entertainment and education can be exploited in the field of performing arts, with adaptation and repurposing. Performing arts offer many interesting challenges and opportunities for research and innovations and exploitation of cutting edge research results from interdisciplinary areas. For these reasons, the ECLAP 2012 can be regarded as a continuation of past conferences such as AXMEDIS and WEDELMUSIC (both pressed by IEEE and FUP). ECLAP is an European Commission project to create a social network and media access service for performing arts institutions in Europe, to create the e-library of performing arts, exploiting innovative solutions coming from the ICT.
