Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Scaphidiinae
The present Catalogue comprises information on 48 genera and 1802 valid species of the coleopterous subfamily Scaphidiinae. Unlike previous catalogues of the group, it gives exact type localities, depositories and sexes of primary types whenever traceable. Genera are listed with their type species and grammatical gender. References are given to subsequent taxonomic and nomenclatural acts, records, and to all other relevant information. Distributional information is provided per country, for larger or insular countries per subunits. An overview of fungus and slime mould hosts is annexed. The references to all taxa have been checked by the author. Infrasubspecific entities and priorities are dealt to comply with the ICZN. Nomenclatural problems are highlighted, and several new records are given. Extinct taxa are listed separately.
Notodontidae
The first volume of this new series is authored by the leading authority of these beautiful moths. The book is the first comprehensive work on Palaearctic Notodontidae since the famous Seitz work nearly a century ago. It covers in detail each of the approximately 520 species known from the Palaearctic Region. In the systematic part of the volume, each species is dealt with in the following format: scientific name with synonyms, diagnosis, dionomics, and distribution. There is a distribution map for each species on which non-palaearctic distribution is also shown. The book includes genitalia photos of the male and female of each species. How Many Female Type Designers Do You Know? I Know Many and Talked to Some!

Besides that it should serve as an alternative educational material for people interested in type history. The first part of the book offers biographies of female type designers that worked in the 19th and the beginning of 20th century. These women contributed to the industry, yet they are rarely mentioned in educational material. The second part is a series of the interviews with 14 women that are either currently working as type designers or in any other way involved in the field of type design. Interviews intend to uncover the topic of unequal share of female and male speakers at type conference as well as the lack of women in the industry. The last part of the book is a showcase of typefaces designed by women. The purpose of this part is to show the great amount and broad variety of such typefaces. I started this project as my master's degree thesis at Weißensee Academy of Arts in Berlin, Germany and continue working on it.
