Introduction to Colombia
Colombia is a country located in South America, bordered by Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Panama. It has a diverse landscape that includes the Andes mountains, the Amazon rainforest, and the Caribbean coast. The country's official language is Spanish, and its population is diverse, with indigenous peoples, Afro-Colombians, and people of European descent making up significant portions. However, in recent years, Colombia has made significant progress in improving security and economic stability. "It deals witb a distinguished career which led the Colombian artist from her early stage of "windows" and "doors" to a series of "atmospheres"--In which she seems to leap through the frames of her earlier paintings to find herself before the light that is on the other side and was merely hinted at before. The white canvases of her "atmospheres" - luminous, sparkling and full of matter - in turn fulfill their cycle, opening the way for a further stage which is marked by the recuperatian of the object and a new and fresh approach to nature.
Negret, Sculptor - Homage
The work of Colombian sculptor Edgar Negret is lovingly portrayed in this homage to the man and six decades of his art. The incorporation of aluminum, industrial paint, and visible assembling techniques in his 1950s works in Mallorca and New York is discussed along with details of his journey across America, return to Colombia, and artistic approximation of Latin American literature.
