This book provides the bases on AI techniques and offer solutions in modeling, pattern recognition, clustering, and many other problems. The text gives a comprehensive coverage of major AI techniques currently available to assist in HCI and Robotics.
This book is an overview of the different paths automation and control engineering have taken lately, from a modern point of view. Built up with example chapters, this book provides some insight into the use of artificial intelligence and control theory on manufacturing, comfort analysis, reliability of modern digital systems, and the use of unusual reference and feedback signals as those coming from the brain. Nonetheless, some chapters are also devoted to a more traditional point of view of control theory, addressing complex problems where human intervention must be limited. Overall, this book is an effort to show that modern automation and control engineering are comprised by many diverse areas, which should interact in order to provide a complete result. In this way, as the systems become more complex and the control objectives more subjective, both, formal analytic and intelligent approaches, should be seen as complementary tools, not unrelated competitors. This books aim is precisely that of showing how broad and diverse the control objectives have become and how the abilities of the control engineer should be extended.
Researchers involved in product development are expected to create a final product which is market ready. For products developed through a partnership between universities and commercial organizations, the technology transfer process is a fundamental bringing the final product into the market. One aspect of this process is the concept of intellectual property – the right of ownership to innovative ideas that drive product development. Ideas, being intangible, are distinct from products and these can be patented to control their commercial usage. This manual is a primer on intellectual property regulation and technology transfer between university and industrial organizations. This book is concise reference for students, researchers, professors and anyone who is creating or developing products and learning the basics of the technology transfer process. The book also serves as a resource for technicians who want to learn more about how ideas are commercialized and protected in markets.
This book has a complete set of applications of artificial neural networks that allow the reader to gain experience about the new systems for implementing and developing artificial intelligence (AI) methods, which can run in several digital systems. On the other hand, the book shows the newest algorithms of artificial intelligence that provide a wide spectrum of research areas in which AI can be deployed. There are a lot of books that address AI applications. However, this book shows the newest applications reached according with the technological changes that are presented nowadays. Those changes drastically appear in digital systems or other parallel areas that allow to improve the performance of AI algorithms. Hence, sometimes, the AI algorithms have to be redesigned in order to run in microcontrollers or FPGAs. The topics covered generate a structured book, so it could be used as a textbook, but it is designed to be accessible to a wide audience interested in AI.
Metaheuristic optimization has become a prime alternative for solving complex optimization problems in several areas. Hence, practitioners and researchers have been paying extensive attention to those metaheuristic algorithms that are mainly based on natural phenomena. However, when those algorithms are implemented, there are not enough books that deal with theoretical and experimental problems in a friendly manner so this book presents a novel structure that includes a complete description of the most important metaheuristic optimization algorithms as well as a new proposal of a new metaheuristic optimization named earthquake optimization. This book also has several practical exercises and ...

They provide a comprehensive overview of identified challenges and recent advances in various collaborative network (CN) domains and their applications, with a strong focus on the following areas: blockchain in collaborative networks, industry transformation and innovation, semantics in networks of cognitive systems, cognitive systems for resilience management, collaborative energy services in smart cities, cognitive systems in agribusiness, building information modeling, industry 4.0 support frameworks, health and social welfare services, risk, privacy and security, collaboration platform issues, sensing, smart and sustainable enterprises, information systems integration, dynamic logistics networks, collaborative business processes, value creation in networks, users and organizations profiling, and collaborative business strategies.
This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 18th Mexican Conference on Artificial Intelligence, MICAI 2019, held in Xalapa, Mexico, in October/November 2019. The 59 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 148 submissions. They cover topics such as: machine learning; optimization and planning; fuzzy systems, reasoning and intelligent applications; and vision and robotics.
Biometrics provide quantitative representations of human features, physiological and behavioral. This book is a compilation of biometric technologies developed by various research groups in Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico. It provides a summary of biometric systems as a whole, explaining the principles behind physiological and behavioral biometrics and exploring different types of commercial and experimental technologies and current and future applications in the fields of security, military, criminology, healthcare education, business, and marketing. Examples of biometric systems using brain signals or electroencephalography (EEG) are given. Mobile and home EEG use in children’s natural ...
This book introduces the concept of sensing, smart and sustainable systems (S3 systems) to support the design and redesign of products, services, business and manufacturing processes, manufacturing systems, and enterprises. The concept of S3 systems theory is introduced and explained in detail to support designers and engineers in their development task. This approach is embraced in the implementation of emergent Information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence techniques. The text helps the reader to understand the relationship between intelligent manufacturing, S3 systems and Industry 4.0. It presents a review of current approaches to design and development of technology-based products. Finally, it enlarges on the sensing, smart and sustainable systems theory to give examples of S3 systems as case studies.
Enterprise integration and enterprise engineering has become a focal point of discussions during the past few years with active contribution of many disciplines... The evolution from the concept of CAD/CAM, through CIM to the Integrated Enterprise is based on the assumption that the integrated enterprise can (and should) be engineered just as any complex system can.
