Food consumption is leaning toward products that provide both nutritional value and good flavor. In recent years, researchers have focused on how to scientifically analyze and evaluate foods’ nutritional and flavor qualities under different processing methods or parameters by various effect relationship analysis tools to investigate the internal relations between nutrients and flavor substances. However, during food processing, some unstable components may undergo degradation, volatilization, or secondary reactions due to changes in temperature, pressure, humidity, pH, etc., resulting in challenging research work with complex data variations in multiple dimensions.
One of the challenges facing the world is feeding the ever-increasing population, with food security being a growing 21st century problem. This stresses the need for coordinated international systems to prevent and mitigate food fraud in global food supply chains. Food fraud, which is usually financially motivated, has significant consequences including unfair competition, major damage to markets and organizations, loss of consumer confidence, and it raises food safety issues. A shift toward a more plant-based diet can be endorsed to promote sustainability but also to improve public health and minimize animal suffering. Since its inception in Afghanistan in the late 1980s, the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT), also known as the Jamaat-ul-Dawa (JuD), has arguably been the most threatening and disruptive terrorist organization in South Asia and beyond. While there is considerable scholarship on its history and operations, few scholars have exploited the organization's vast publications. This volume is the first scholarly effort to curate a sample of LeT's Urdu-language publications and then translate them into English for the scholarly community studying this group and related organizations. While the original texts were written and published by Dar al Andalus, which exclusively publishes LeT's books, pamphlets, posters, speeches, and other materials with the explicit intention of diffusing the group's ideology, raising funds, and cultivating volunteers for the organization, the authors hope that by rendering the group's materials more accessible, this book can contribute to the myriad efforts to combat such groups and the violence they perpetrate.
