The Citadel

New York City, the grand metropolis of the United States, had been devastated from the radiation wars over global oil rights. Only a few of the largest cities had endured the holocaust, many in name only, as the survivors migrated to widely separated tracts of land left un-radiated by the nuclear warheads unleashed by oil-hungry countries. The once-dominate United States had been reduced to independent city-states. As recognized power was redistributed around the world, elected governments began to disintegrate into dictatorial regimes. York City (as it was now called) was under the control of the latest man in power, Mayor Kourei Posin. Rights and privileges were being systematically stripp...

A Comparative Grammar of the Sanscrit, Zend, Greek, Latin, Lithuanian, Gothic, German, and Sclavonic Languages

Bopp's Vergleichende Grammatik, begun in 1833, was a founding text of comparative philology and Indo-European linguistics. This translation (1845-50) of the first edition of Bopp's work gave English-speaking scholars access to his important findings. This volume covers phonology, nominal inflection, adjectives and numerals.

Common Nonsense

Its almost a universal phenomenon. Nobody knows when, how, and why it started, but society somehow allows their political leaders to get away with nearly anything, up to and including murder- at least in many countries in Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Central and South America. Here in these United States of America, no one is suggesting (at least not me) that our political leaders are guilty of committing murders. To the extent that anybody can accuse them of such, its their enacting of lax gun laws at the behest of the NRA. Thanks to these laws, anyone applying for a permit to buy an automatic assault weapon is no more subjected to rigorous background check than they are buying candy. ...

Exchange and Transport of Air Pollutants over Complex Terrain and the Sea

As the regional models required to understand and control the generation, distribution and deposition of air pollutants become more precise, the need to understand the detailed effects of hilly and mountainous terrain becomes more acute. The Alpine regions and the mountainous Mediterranean coasts have large effets on the way the pollutant burden is spread in their areas. Similarly an understanding of the effects of chemical and physical processes controlling pollutant deposition and the emission of biogenic compounds is essential to the correct modelling of the coastal regions which surround so much of Europe. The results from two projects on these problems are presented in this volume: one involved a series of field campaigns in the Alps and in the Rhine valley, the other involves ships and platforms in the North Sea and also in the Mediterranean.
