Introduction to Control Systems

This book is written for use as a text in an introductory course in control systems. The classical as well as the state space approach is included and integrated as much as possible. The first part of the book deals with analysis in the time domain. All the graphical techniques are presented in one chapter and the latter part of the book deals with some advanced material. It is intended that the student should already be familiar with Laplace transformations and have had an introductory course in circuit analysis or vibration theory. To provide the student with an understanding of correlation concepts in control theory, a new chapter dealing with stochastic inputs has been added. Also Appendix\A has been significantly expanded to cover the theory of Laplace transforms and z-transforms. The book includes worked examples and problems for solution and an extensive bibliography as a guide for further reading.

Studies in the Agricultural and Food Sciences: Antimicrobials and Agriculture presents the benefits and disadvantages of antibiotics application in agriculture. It discusses the biochemical properties and bacteriological application of beta-lactamase inhibitors. It addresses the nitrification and nitrogen cycling in soils. Some of the topics covered in the book are the nitrification inhibition properties of etrodiazol; perturbations in soil activity caused by agrochemicals; effects of fungicides on soil populations; taxonomic implications of phytoalexin accumulation; fungal antagonism in relation to peaches; and aureofungin in plant disease control. The application of aureofungin in the cont...

Semiconductor Devices and Integrated Electronics

For some time there has been a need for a semiconductor device book that carries diode and transistor theory beyond an introductory level and yet has space to touch on a wider range of semiconductor device principles and applica tions. Such topics are covered in specialized monographs numbering many hun dreds, but the voluminous nature of this literature limits access for students. This book is the outcome of attempts to develop a broad course on devices and integrated electronics for university students at about senior-year level. The edu cational prerequisites are an introductory course in semiconductor junction and transistor concepts, and a course on analog and digital circuits that has ...

Electromagnetics is too important in too many fields for knowledge to be gathered on the fly. A deep understanding gained through structured presentation of concepts and practical problem solving is the best way to approach this important subject. Fundamentals of Engineering Electromagnetics provides such an understanding, distilling the most important theoretical aspects and applying this knowledge to the formulation and solution of real engineering problems. Comprising chapters drawn from the critically acclaimed Handbook of Engineering Electromagnetics, this book supplies a focused treatment that is ideal for specialists in areas such as medicine, communications, and remote sensing who ha...

This book presents a bold, engaging and updated history of economics--the dramatic story of how the great economic thinkers built today's rigorous social science. Noted financial writer and economist Mark Skousen has revised this popular work, now in its third edition. This comprehensive, yet accessible introduction to the major economic philosophers of the past 225 years begins with Adam Smith and continues through the present day. The text examines the contributions made by each individual to our understanding of the role of the economist, the science of economics, and economic theory. Boxes in each chapter highlight little-known and entertaining facts about the economists' personal lives that had an influence on their work.

MedMaps for Pathophysiology

"MedMaps for Pathophysiology contains 102 concept maps of disease processes and mechanisms. The book is organized by organ system and includes classic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and congestive heart failure, as well as complex diseases such as lupus and HIV. Each concept map is arranged to visually capture and clarify the relationships between various aspects of each disease, such as biochemical and genetic causes and responses."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.
