Textile Industry and Environment
In this book, the relationship between the textile industry and the environment is examined from four different viewpoints. Recycling of spinning mill wastes, ozone usage that provides less chemical and water utilization, reuse of treated water in the dyeing processes, and approaches in the treatment of wastewaters of dyeing plants and finishing factories are solutions offered to reduce environmental pollution arising from textile production processes. Apart from this, energy management is also a subject that can be associated with the environment, and as a consequence, the possibility of utilizing textile materials to which phase change materials are applied, not only for comfort purposes but also as energy storage materials, means that technical textiles could be a solution for energy storage.
Roadmap to Sustainable Textiles

Textile Wastewater Treatment
During the dyeing process, losses of colorants to the water sources can be toxic and mutagenic and also decreases light penetration and photosynthesis activity. In recent years, since textile industry can generate large volumes of effluents, textile wastewater treatments have received considerable attention. The aim of this book is to look into textile wastewater treatments shortly. It is designed for readers who study on textile dyeing effluent. Dyes and pigments have been utilized since ancient times. They play an important role in everyday life and their use is interwoven with human culture. Even though numerous dyes and pigments have been synthesized to date, and a lot of knowledge has been gained regarding their production and properties, scientific research is pushing the boundaries towards novel dyes and pigments for high-tech applications. At the same time, the accumulation of dyes and pigments in natural environments and pollution of water resources due to their massive use are important consequences to consider.
