Jean-Michel Pilc, jazz pianist and faculty member of Steinhardt School, New York University, has written a remarkable book about the artistic and creative process in the arts. The conversational style well suits the wide ranging topic which draws examples from art and music both classical and jazz. A beautifully expressed work on a subject otherwise impossible to write about. Hailed by musicians around the world as enlightened and inspirational.
A seven-volume modern Method for Trumpet, comprehensive and contemporary, by Anthony Plog
From ages 8 to 86, trumpet players have contributed little “lessons” they’ve learned about the trumpet, music and life to this collection. This first edition was fifteen years in the making, finally brought to life by the iBooks possibilities. Serious, funny, and everything in between, these comments are both entertaining and thought provoking. The contributors are listed in the beginning but only the age at which the “lesson” was learned accompany the comments. It is hoped that more players will email in their own lessons to be added to future updates of this book.
