With the advent of computational intelligence-based approaches, such as bio-inspired techniques, and the availability of clinical data from various complex experiments, medical consultants, researchers, neurologists, and oncologists, there is huge scope for CI-based applications in medical oncology and neurological disorders. This book focuses on interdisciplinary research in this field, bringing together medical practitioners dealing with neurological disorders and medical oncology along with CI investigators. The book collects high-quality original contributions, containing the latest developments or applications of practical use and value, presenting interdisciplinary research and review articles in the field of intelligent systems for computational oncology and neurological disorders. Drawing from work across computer science, physics, mathematics, medical science, psychology, cognitive science, oncology, and neurobiology among others, it combines theoretical, applied, computational, experimental, and clinical research. It will be of great interest to any neurology or oncology researchers focused on computational approaches.
Ecology is the study of the interrelationships between organisms and their environment, including the biotic and abiotic components. There are at least six kinds of ecology: ecosystem, physiological, behavioural, population, and community; specific topics include: Acid Deposition, Acid Rain Revisited, Biodiversity, Biocomplexity, Carbon Sequestration in Soils, Coral Reefs, Ecosystem Services, Environmental Justice, Fire Ecology, Floods, Global Climate Change, Hypoxia, and Invasion. This book presents new research on ecology from around the world.

With contributions from key researchers across the globe, and edited by internationally recognized leading academics, Gravel-bed Rivers: Processes and Disasters presents the definitive review of current knowledge of gravel-bed rivers. Continuing an established and successful series of scholarly reports, this book consists of the papers presented at the 8th International Gravel-bed Rivers Workshop. Focusing on all the recent progress that has been made in the field, subjects covered include flow, physical modeling, sediment transport theory, techniques and instrumentation, morphodynamics and ecological topics, with special attention given to aspects of disasters relevant to sediment supply and integrated river management. This up-to-date compendium is essential reading for geomorphologists, river engineers and ecologists, river managers, fluvial sedimentologists and advanced students in these fields.
This book comprises the proceedings of the 26th International Conference on Hydraulics, Water Resources and Coastal Engineering (HYDRO 2021) focusing on broad spectrum of emerging opportunities and challenges in the field of fluid mechanics and hydraulics. It covers a range of topics, including, but not limited to, experimental and computational fluid mechanics, sediment dynamics, environmental impact assessment of water resources projects, environmental flows, pollutant transport, etc. Presenting recent advances in the form of illustrations, tables, and text, it offers readers insights for their own research. In addition, the book addresses fundamental concepts and studies in the field of flood forecasting and hydraulic structures, making it a valuable resource for both beginners and researchers wanting to further their understanding of hydraulics, water resources and coastal engineering.

This book introduces a number of selected advanced topics in mass transfer phenomenon and covers its theoretical, numerical, modeling and experimental aspects. The 26 chapters of this book are divided into five parts. The first is devoted to the study of some problems of mass transfer in microchannels, turbulence, waves and plasma, while chapters regarding mass transfer with hydro-, magnetohydro- and electro- dynamics are collected in the second part. The third part deals with mass transfer in food, such as rice, cheese, fruits and vegetables, and the fourth focuses on mass transfer in some large-scale applications such as geomorphologic studies. The last part introduces several issues of combined heat and mass transfer phenomena. The book can be considered as a rich reference for researchers and engineers working in the field of mass transfer and its related topics.
