"In undertaking this particular study, my objectives were: 1) to learn something of the beaver and his habits, 2) to make a survey of the manner and extent in which the beaver's activities conflict with human interests, 3) to determine the best management of such situations, 4) to appreciate the beaver's ecological importance and 5) to learn something of the history of beaver in the state of Michigan. Although much of the work here reported was accomplished during the past four months, the project is the result of observations made over a period of years.
