Cuaderno de indagación en el aula y competencia científica
Las competencias científicas, en el contexto de las competencias básicas, son un elemento clave en los nuevos currículos que han sido desarrollados tras la aprobación de la Ley Orgánica de Educación. Es necesario caracterizar lo que entendemos por competencias científicas y conceptos que pueden ser útiles para desarrollarlas, como indagación, argumentación, uso de pruebas o prácticas científicas. Esta publicación comprende un conjunto de propuestas de profesorado de educación secundaria y universidad, con el objetivo de ayudar a aproximarnos a la indagación en el aula y, desde la práctica, valorar de qué modo diferentes estrategias educativas favorecen el desarrollo de las competencias científicas. Se dirige principalmente a profesorado de ciencias de secundaria, aunque también puede ser útil para docentes de otros niveles. Combinando una aproximación teórica a la argumentación, la indagación y las prácticas científicas, con propuestas experimentadas para el aula, pretende aportar ideas y recursos que los profesores y profesoras puedan llevar a sus clases.

Lexicography in the 21st Century
This is a state-of-the-art volume on lexicography at the beginning of the 21st century. It also offers proposals for future theoretical and practical work. The contributions, inspired by the ground-breaking work of Henning Bergenholtz, address topics such as dictionary functions; dictionary users; access routes; dictionary structures; dictionary reviewing; subject-field classifications; data retrieval; corpus lexicography; and collocations and phraseology. The contributors, all highly regarded international scholars in the field of lexicography, show how the theory of lexicographical functions can extend the forefront of the discipline by focusing on dictionary functions and how these meet the needs of users in various types of user situations. Thereby echoing Bergenholtz’s idea that a dictionary is a tool that can help users solve problems encountered in communicative, cognitive and operative situations. The Cerrados of Brazil
The massive grasslands of Brazil -- known as the cerrados -- which cover roughly a quarter of its land surface and are among the most threatened regions in South America, have received little media attention. This book brings together leading researchers on the area to produce the first detailed account in English of the natural history and ecology of the cerrado/savanna ecosystem. Given their extent and threatened status, the richness of their flora and fauna, and the lack of familiarity with their unique ecology at the international level, the cerrados are badly in need of this important and timely work.
