Agents and Multi-Agent Systems: Technologies and Applications 2021

This book highlights new trends and challenges in research on agents and the new digital and knowledge economy. It includes papers on business process management, agent-based modeling and simulation, and anthropic-oriented computing that were originally presented at the 15th International KES Conference on Agents and Multi-Agent Systems: Technologies and Applications (KES-AMSTA 2021), being held as a Virtual Conference in June 14–16, 2021. The respective papers cover topics such as software agents, multi-agent systems, agent modeling, mobile and cloud computing, big data analysis, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, social systems, computer embedded systems, and nature-inspired manufacturing, all of which contribute to the modern digital economy.

Information Reuse and Integration addresses the efficient extension and creation of knowledge through the exploitation of Kolmogorov complexity in the extraction and application of domain symmetry. Knowledge, which seems to be novel, can more often than not be recast as the image of a sequence of transformations, which yield symmetric knowledge. When the size of those transformations and/or the length of that sequence of transforms exceeds the size of the image, then that image is said to be novel or random. It may also be that the new knowledge is random in that no such sequence of transforms, which produces it exists, or is at least known. The nine chapters comprising this volume incorporate symmetry, reuse, and integration as overt operational procedures or as operations built into the formal representations of data and operators employed. Either way, the aforementioned theoretical underpinnings of information reuse and integration are supported.

Software and Data Technologies

This book contains the best papers of the First International Conference on Software and Data Technologies (ICSOFT 2006), organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Communication and Control (INSTICC) in cooperation with the Object Management Group (OMG). Hosted by the School of Business of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal, the conference was sponsored by Enterprise Ireland and the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. The purpose of ICSOFT 2006 was to bring together researchers and practitioners int- ested in information technology and software development. The conference tracks were “Software Engineering”, “Information Systems and Data Management”, “...

The Ignite Project

This guidebook highlights the process of a software internship project facilitated by the Schulich School of Engineering. The Scrum Team is comprised of student developers pursuing either a master’s or bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering with their professor as the stakeholder, a consulting tech company serving as the product owner, and a graduate student and seasoned industry expert as project leads. The story of this software development process is communicated through the perspectives of an observing undergraduate SE student and the team, mainly through meetings, interviews, and journal entries. This guidebook is for readers in research, education, and industry who will not only experience the same process from different angles, but they will gain insight into fundamental elements of the Scrum Framework applied in organizational projects.

The Sabaoth's Arrow

On a mission to Arshak, Roshan causes a terrible accident that allows High Magus Sassan to capture over thirty daevas. Meanwhile, Armaiti gives Sassan the one thing King Fiqitush most desires: Solomon’s seal. While Roshan struggles to control the sabaoth magic, Navid leaves for Arshak to learn what Sassan is up to with the daevas. What he discovers horrifies him and prompts a rescue mission. Aware they could be walking into a trap, Roshan, Navid and Behrouz sneak into Arshak. Can they free the prisoners, or will they become Sassan’s next victims?

Theory and Application of Reuse, Integration, and Data Science

This book presents recent research in the field of reuse and integration, and will help researchers and practitioners alike to understand how they can implement reuse in different stages of software development and in various domains, from robotics and security authentication to environmental issues. Indeed, reuse is not only confined to reusing code; it can be included in every software development step. The challenge today is more about adapting solutions from one language to another, or from one domain to another. The relative validation of the reused artifacts in their new environment is also necessary, at time even critical. The book includes high-quality research papers on these and many other aspects, written by experts in information reuse and integration, who cover the latest advances in the field. Their contributions are extended versions of the best papers presented at the IEEE International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI) and IEEE International Workshop on Formal Methods Integration (FMI), which were held in San Diego in August 2017.
