Die Kennerschaft des Ehepaars Krugier- Poniatowski hat eine der weltweit bedeutendsten Sammlungen von Meisterwerken in privater Hand entstehen lassen. Unter den vielfaeltigen Aspekten kuenstlerischer Ideenverwandtschaften vereint sie Zeichnungen, Gemaelde und Skulpturen vom fruehen 15. Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart. Beginnend mit einer Zeichnung von Seurat im Jahr 1968 haben Jan Krugier und seine Frau, die Kuenstlerin Marie-Anne Krugier-Poniatowski, mit hoher Sensibilitaet fuer die oft stillen Arbeiten auf Papier eine sehr personliche Kunstsammlung zusammengetragen. Source inépuisable d'inspiration l'Antiquité a marqué de son empreinte une bonne part de la création occidentale. Certaines oeuvres antiques sont plus étudiées, dessinées, copiées que d'autres. Cette exposition confronte une dizaine de chefs-d'oeuvre antiques (Vénus de Milo) aux échos qu'ils ont suscités auprès d'artistes comme Rubens, Ingres, Rodin, Dali... près de 300 oeuvres sont ainsi réunies.

Left Catholicism, 1943-1955
Decisively shaped by the turbulent atmosphere of war, occupation and resistance, the years 1943-1955 gave rise to a most unusual flowering of progressive initiatives in Catholic politics, theology and apostolic missions. Though suffering severe setbacks in the deep freeze of the Cold War politics, mid-Century European Left Catholicism was not without influence in the subsequent emergence of Latin American Liberation Theology and the deliberations of the Vatican II. This volume constitutes the first attempt to analyse the phenomenon of Western European Left Catholicism from a comparative and transnational perspective.
