Immigrant Entrepreneurship
This Special Issue aims to provide an extensive mapping of policies in the promotion of ethnic entrepreneurship in a number of countries. It is motivated by the desire of national and municipal Governments to create an environment conducive to setting up and developing SMEs in general and immigrant businesses in particular. Furthermore it also highlights how the third sector has also had a crucial role in the reinforcement of immigrant entrepreneurship, and provides indications of how best to address this issue at a Governmental level in the future.
The Impact of Cash Budgets on Poverty Reduction in Zambia
Abstract: Facing runaway inflation and budget discipline problems in the early 1990s, the Zambian government introduced the so-called cash budget in which government domestic spending is limited to domestic revenue, leaving no room for excess spending. Dinh, Adugna, and Myers review Zambia's experience during the past decade, focusing on the impact of the cash budget on poverty reduction. They conclude that after some initial success in reducing hyperinflation, the cash budget has largely failed to keep inflation at low levels, created a false sense of fiscal security, and distracted policymakers from addressing the fundamental issue of fiscal discipline. Este número temático procura disponibilizar uma caracterização extensa de políticas que promovem o empreendedorismo étnico em diversos países, sendo motivado pelo objectivo de governos nacionais e municipais de criarem um ambiente conducente à definição e desenvolvimento de PMEs, em geral, e de negócios de imigrantes, em particular. Adicionalmente, ilustra também como o terceiro sector tem tido um papel crucial no reforço do empreendedorismo imigrante e fornece indicações acerca de como melhor abordar este assunto no futuro a um nível governamental.
Contemporary French and Scandinavian Crime Fiction
This book offers a study of Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and French crime fictions covering a fifty-year period. From 1965 to the present, both Scandinavian and French societies have undergone significant transformations. Twelve literary case studies examine how crime fictions in the respective contexts have responded to shifting social realities, which have in turn played a part in transforming the generic codes and conventions of the crime novel. At the centre of the book’s analysis is crime fiction’s negotiation of the French model of Republican universalism and the Scandinavian welfare state, both of which were routinely characterised as being in a state of crisis at the end of the twentieth century. Adopting a comparative and interdisciplinary approach, the book investigates the interplay between contemporary Scandinavian and French crime narratives, considering their engagement with the relationship of the state and the citizen, and notably with identity issues (class, gender, sexuality and ethnicity in particular).

The Restaurant, A Geographical Approach
This book analyzes the way in which restaurants are geographical objects that reveal locational logics and strategies, and how restaurants weave close relationships with the space in which they are located. Originating from cities, restaurants feed off the urban environment as much as they feed it ? participating in the qualification, differentiation and hierarchy of cities. Indeed, restaurants in both the city and the countryside maintain a dialogical relationship with tourism. They can be vital players in the establishment of emerging types of gourmet tourism, sometimes even constituting as gourmet tourist destinations in their own right. They participate in the establishment of necessary conditions for local development. Some restaurants are even praised as historic sites, recognized as part of the local heritage, which reinforces their localization and their identity as a gourmet tourist destination.

Le restaurant, une approche géographique
Cet ouvrage analyse la manière dont les restaurants sont des objets géographiques qui révèlent des logiques et des stratégies de localisation et tissent des rapports étroits avec leur espace d’implantation. Nés en ville, les restaurants se nourrissent de l’urbain autant qu’ils l’alimentent, et participent à la qualification, à la différenciation et à la hiérarchisation des villes. En ville comme à la campagne, les restaurants entretiennent des relations dialogiques avec le tourisme, tiennent une place dans l’émergence de formes de tourisme gourmand et constituent parfois même des destinations touristiques gourmandes à part entière. Ils participent à la mise en place des conditions nécessaires au développement local. Certains, enfin, sont désignés comme des monuments historiques et reconnus comme faisant partie du patrimoine, ce qui renforce leur localisation et leur identification comme destination touristique gourmande.
